Like other parts of the country, the celebrations of the nine-day-long festival started with religious fervour and gaiety across J&K with thousands of devotees paying obeisance in the temples of across the Union Territory. All the temples were decorated by the devotees & respective management committees befitting the occasion. There was a huge rush in temples right from the morning & devotees including men, women and children were seen waiting in long queues in front of various temples for darshan. In a reaffirmation of the Army’s commitment to maintaining a robust defensive posture along the Line of Control ( ), the General officer Commanding ( ) 15 Corps, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai visited frontline units in the Keran sector of north ’s district on Tuesday. Police on Monday said that eight absconders have been declared proclaimed offenders in north ’s district.
In a statement, police said that on 01/04/2024, Hon’ble Court of Additional Sessions Judge Baramulla declared eight (08) individuals namely Hilal Ahmad Ganie son of Assadullah; Mudasir Shafi Geelani son of Mohd Shafi; Mohd Maqbool Pandith son of Mohd Ramzan all residents of Khore Sherabad Pattan, Habibullah Sheikh son of Ab Aziz resident of Goom Ahmadpora Pattan; Shabir Ahmad Najar son of Late Habibullah resident of Par Mohalla Pattan; Mohd Ashraf Dar son of Ab Khalid resident of Watwan Pattan; Gh Nabi Najar son of Late Gh Rasool resident of Najar Mohalla Pattan & Fayaz Ahmad Mir son of Late Habibullah resident of Main Mohalla Pattan as proclaimed offenders in case FIR No. 03/2008 under sections 2/3 EIMCO Act, 121 RPC, 19 UA(P) Act of Police Station Pattan on the application moved by Baramulla Police.

A small contingent of women personnel of the Special Operations Group, a specially-trained counter-insurgency force of Jammu Kashmir Police, has been deployed in ahead of elections. Voting for the Jammu parliamentary seat will be held on Apr 26 in the second phase of elections. The eight-member team, fully equipped with automatic weapons and bullet-proof vests, can be seen carrying out patrolling duties in an armoured vehicle and conducting searches and vehicle checking in different parts of the city.

The Government Trout Fish Farm Khag in central district has achieved a significant milestone this year by producing over four lakh rainbow trout fish seedlings, surpassing all previous records. This farm hatchery is currently working on increasing production further.
Deputy Inspector at Government Trout Fish Farm Khag, Riyaz Ahmed Khan said that rainbow trout are raised and cultured in the hatchery, making it the sole fish farm in Budgam district with a hatchery that serves private fish farms in the district as well as in Central and North Kashmir.
“The previous seed production record was one and a half lakhs, but this year, the hatchery has produced over four lakh rainbow trout fish seedlings,” he said.

Around 2.5 lakh blooming tulips are oohing tourists at the picturesque Sanasar garden nestled amid the lush green meadows of Ramban district in . The Tulip Garden at Sanasar has been thrown open to the public marking the beginning of the new tourist season. “Around 2.5 lakh tulip flowers are blooming on 40 kanals of land.It is a mesmerising scene,” said an official. The police in attached properties worth crores belonging to proclaimed offenders, who have exfiltrated to -occupied , officials said. police obtained an attachment order passed by the Sub-Judge of Uri, they said, adding that the land amounted to 30 kanals and 15 marlas. The land belonged to Mohammed Lateef (18 kanals and 6 marlas), Sadar Din (9 marlas) and Aziz Din (12 kanals), police said. The action was taken under various sections of the law registered at Uri police station. Police said the property was identified as belonging to proclaimed offenders during the course of an investigation by the police. Further updates are awaited.

One terrorist was killed after the foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control ( ) in in 's district on Friday. Search and cordon operations were on in the area following the gunfight, an Army official said, adding that one terrorist was killed. Army said a group of terrorists who were trying to cross into India were repulsed back due to effective firing by the troops. An exchange of fire took place between the terrorists and Army personnel along the LoC, they said.
Additional forces were rushed to the scene after the gunfight.
