I tried watching the Today Show like I usually do but when they started talking about Trump’s possible cabinet picks I had to turn it off. Trump is going to fill the administration with the absolute dumbest or most evil people around because he doesn’t care about having a legitimate government.

As I sit here and reflect on the events of the past 24 hours, I’m trying to make sense of why the majority of the country decided that electing a convicted s*x offender, who spews racist and xenophobic rhetoric was better than a career public servant whose messages were largely about unity and helping those less fortunate.

Looking through many social media posts and messages, I see a lot of the people on the right discounting reactions from people on the left, basically telling them to get over their loss. This misses the point about why those of us on the left are so upset.

This is not about winning or losing an election; it is about existential threats to people whom we care about.

I’m worried that Ukraine will lose the support from the U.S. and once again be under the authoritarian thumb of Russia.

I’m worried that my LGBTQIA friends’ marriages will be stripped from them.

I’m worried that families are going to be ripped apart due to mass deportations.

I’m worried that my daughter will not be able to get the medical care that she needs because some Christian zealot thinks birth control is from the Devil.

So no, this is not sour grapes that my team lost. It’s not a difference of political opinion. It is a difference of morality.

I truly worry about where our society is heading and hope that the arc of morality does, indeed, bend towards justice.

If you ain’t listening to Hood Politics you need to hear this episode and put this show into your rotation. Prop is on point that Republicans are great at relating their messaging to how people feel. Democrats have a huge problem with this.
