Delores "Queen of Promotion" Thornton was voted, "Best Online Prese
nce" by Nubian Literary Awards 2006!! Thornton who has been inducted into the Self-Publishing Hall of Fame was the Literary Expert on Blackrefer.com, and a columnist for the Indiana Herald Newspaper. A much sought-after workshop presenter, Thornton has traveled extensively, doing seminars, workshops and signings at book fairs, book expos, and aboard literary cruises. Additionally, she was a featured speaker for Women's History Month at Ball State University - March 2006 and the Keynote Speaker at the 2nd Annual Queens Book Fair, Jamaica, NY - August 19, 2006. Thornton started writing in the mid 90s and friends encouraged her to publish her first novel, Ida Mae, in 1997. Her second work, Ida Mae:The Saga Continues, was released in December 1998. Her third novel, Babe was released December 2000, Anybody Seen Junebug?, was released in 2003, Divine Appointment: A Caregiver's Guide, was published in June 2004, and How to Self-Publish That Great Novel Without Going Nuts!, was released in 2005. Her most recent book is, "Airing Dirty Linen." Additionally, she has written plays, Silent Savior and Our Weekly Church Bulletin. Recognized for community service during the 9th Annual Joy Awards in 2005, Thornton has been a volunteer mentor with the Marion County Probation, and the Co/Founder/Executive Director of Indianapolis Book Fest, Incorporated. She is currently serving on the Advisory Board of the African American History Committee with the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library. Thornton has served as an elected Democratic State Delegate. A judge in the Judge Paul Buchanan Literary Awards for 2004 & 2005, Thornton was a regular contributor to Word Life News, Chaotic Dreams, Booking Matters and AMPS Magazines, the NuShape Publication and Naldar Publishing Newsletters. A 1999 graduate of the LongRidge Writers Group of West Redding, Connecticut, Thornton received a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Education from Simmons College of Kentucky in 2008. She also took classes through the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, graduating on June 16, 2010. She is now eligible to teach in the COPP Program! A licensed and ordained Baptist minister, Thornton is a proud graduate (BA) of Simmons Bible College of Kentucky (HBCU) where she was Valedictorian.
