Nekomata (猫また) are a type of cat yōkai with a split tail, often confused with the bakeneko. They come in two distinct varieties: the mountain nekomata and the domestic nekomata. The mountain variety live deep in the mountain and are typically much larger than the others, closer in size to lions than house cats. The domestic variety are domestic cats that have grown old enough to transform into yōkai. Both are capable of shapeshifting and are fond of eating humans. Obake (お化け), also called bakemono (化け物), are a class of yōkai often depicted as shapeshifters, whose true forms maybe an animal, plant spirit, or even inanimate object. Those derived from household objects, such as umbrellas or lanterns, are also called tsukumogami. What would your true form be if you were an obake?
