I wrote a review for Nija way back in 2020, and I am so glad to see these guys get to this level!

Very proud of them and looking forward to seeing them live next year as support for Trivium/BFMVs Poisoned Ascendancy tour.

Last night in Toronto marked the end of our tour with Slipknot, and we’re still processing what this journey has meant to us, both professionally and personally. From performing in iconic venues like MSG and Scotiabank Arena to spending time with such an incredible band and crew, it’s been an unforgettable experience. The Slipknot crew, some of the nicest people we’ve ever met, checked in on us daily, making sure we were okay. Thank you so much, Slipknot—we’ll never forget this.

Thanks,
Orbit Culture

Where do music reviewers and readers hang out nowadays?

Please don't say TikTok...

Here's a question. How long do you give an album to impress you before moving on to something else?

If I'm not feeling it after 3 songs (excluding intros), I turn it off. Who's got the time to listen to bad albums?

What about you? Whats your method?

Stevie T - Knipslot (track review)

I'll start off by saying I know this guy very loosely from YouTube. I can't remember if he's a memelord or not. So I don't know if this track is a legit nod to Slipknot or if its a parody. I couldn't detect any mockery, so I'm going to place my bets and say its the former.

And if it is, then this guy knows how to write a Slipknot song better than the gentleman of Iowa do now. JFC Corey, get this guy in your band. Give him the number 10 or however many there are now.

Its easy to write off imitations like this, but this is a lot more quality than a normal tribute. It's got that distinct Slipknot DNA that seems to have been misplaced by the real band of late. Growled vocals in the verses, some unhinged laughter cameos, melodic choruses and a beefy guitar tone. There's also a smattering of military drums that remind me of The Blister Exists. One of my favourite Slipknot songs ever.

Knipslot is what Slipknot should sound like. Instead the band has gone stale and ran out of ideas. And I thank Stevie T for reminding us that Slipknot could still be worth tuning into if they made stuff like this.

Long live Knipslot.

The triumphant return of Abrasive Noise (that nobody gives a f**k about)

Hey all, its Luke here. I've decided to dust off this page and start writing reviews for music again. I stopped because quite frankly it became f**king tedious writing reviews every week, sometimes for music I'd never listen to again. I lost the reason why I started doing it in the first place.

Because I found it fun to write about music.

So here's the deal. I'm going to write about music as and when I feel like it. As and when I hear something worth talking about. This was supposed to be a hobby and I turned it into a tedious job that paid me zilch. It won't happen again.

So I may write a review tomorrow and then not write one for 3 months. That's just how it's going to be. Maybe.

I'm probably only going to write reviews about singles and EPs rather than full lengths. So bear that in mind if you send any music to me. Mind you, I'll be surprised if this post hits anyone's feed. This has been a dead page for over a year. Oh well.

So yeah, Abrasive Noise is back with minimal levels of commitment. I'm writing for fun, nothing more. And if I can help a band feel good about their music or help them gain one new fan (or more) then that's just a nice bonus. And if it becomes not fun again, I'll stop, because that benefits nobody writing about stuff when its a chore.

So yeah, if you're reading this...blimey Facebook algorithm is f**ked.

Anyway, if you wanna send me your music, email it to abrasivenoise[at]gmail.com. And in the subject line, start it with RETURN because I'm pretty sure when I open up that mailbox again after a year there's going to be a clusterf**k of emails in there, so I want to make sure your one gets seen as the rest of the emails will be deleted.

Cheers,
Luke
