Director Michel Hazanavicius may be best known stateside for his Oscar award-winning movie the Artist, but what the French adore most is his OSS 117 comedy movie series starring the very same star, charismatic Jean Dujardin. OSS 117 tells the forlorn tales of a French secret agent conducting secret missions around the world. This 60’s inspired spy film parody has fast become a classic of all classics, at times absurd, always hilarious, often quoted in daily conversations. Now is the time to watch the first two movies, OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies and OSS 117: Lost in Rio, before the third installment OSS 117: Alerte Rouge en Afrique Noire releases later this year.

Savory bread, a traditional pre-dinner food when you have guests over and wanna be fancy without spending more time in the kitchen than is necessary.
Here’s the recipe of our favorite green olives and hazelnut savory bread:
➕ Mix 150 gr (grams) of flour with a pack of baking powder (approx 11 gr) and a pinch of salt
➕ Mix in 4 eggs one by one with a wooden spoon
➕ Slowly incorporate 8 cl (centiliters) of canola oil, then 15 cl of milk while continuously mixing
➕ Incorporate 150 gr of drained, pitted green olives to the mix, 150 gr of whole shelled hazelnuts, and 150 gr of graded Swiss cheese (gruyère for superior taste). Salt and pepper to taste
➕ Butter up a loaf pan. Pour the mix in and bake in the oven at 360F for about an hour, or until the dough just barely sticks to a knife as you pierce through the loaf
➕ Let it cool down before slicing and serving, savor it by its lonesome (no need for sauces or other accoutrements)

Recette:
➕ Mélanger 150 gr de farine avec un sachet de levure chimique et une pincée de sel
➕ Incorporer 4 œufs un à un en mélangeant avec une cuillère en bois
➕ Verser 8 cl d’huile, puis 15 cl de lait sans cesser de mélanger
➕ Beurrer un moule à cake et préchauffer le four th 6 soit 180 degrés C
➕ Incorporer à la pâte 150 gr d’olives vertes dénoyautées, 150 gr de noisettes décortiquées, et 150 gr de gruyère râpé. Saler, poivrer
➕ Verser dans le moule et mettre au four pendant à peu près 1 heure, ou sortir du four quand la pâte ne colle quasiment plus à un couteau
➕ Laisser refroidir avant de couper et servir

“Love always wins” surely is the message French Fashion designer Jacquemus sought to pass on to all of us when he published the first images of his Spring-Summer 2021 collection aptly named L’ / . L’Amour by Jacquemus is filled with normcore pieces, boxy cuts, neutral colors, and old-school sneakers. Most probably a response to the many homophobic attacks he himself has been victim of, these images feature a rainbow of couples and loves of all types and preferences dressed in the newest Jacquemus creations, and they are just beautiful. Prepare for your heart to grow at least three sizes today.

I, Cécile Charlot, am the Founder, Writer, Editor, and Frenchin’ Machine in Chief of Frenchologie. Born and raised in France - now Franco-American - I have been in the United Stated for 20 years. My expatriation is what gave me the perspective to better understand what makes the French culture special and what gives the French woman their infamous je ne sais quoi.

I started to truly understand what it meant to be French when I left the country. Now I’m paying tribute to it and sharing the love. Because we could all stand to be a little bit more French on the daily.
