Earlier in the summer, our good friend and the ever-excellent purveyor of quality house music, @jcubkelly, signed a MFF piece of back cat gold from @studio.stefan.goldmann aka Simitli's "Gee Baby (Ain't I Good To You)" for his Sounds of Ynyshir: Vol 1 Vinyl compilation. This exclusive piece of vinyl was put together to capture the spirit of the amazing Michelin star restaurant @ynyshirerestaurant whose music policy runs alongside its love of fine food. Full vinyl release for the comp should be sometime in the A/W 24 but watch out for a re-release of the excellent full 3-track EP "Music That Makes Me Dance EP, which features Gee Baby, Closing In + a new edit of Simitli's original Read That Lips too - coming on MFF soon.

Throwback Thursday this week is all about Freaks.... Originally formed by Luke Solomon and myself (@justinharris_musicforfreaks) in the mid-90’s; Luke and I went on to make countless remixes and EP’s and 4 studio albums (with much more in the archives, unreleased).We had many lovely people play, sing and perform with us during our active years (the amazing Stella Attar and coolest man on earth Diz on vocals, Jonny Rock - 2nd coolest - on guitar and good vibes, Sascha Darrock Davies on drums to name a few). We also successfully completed many tours including the USA twice. Amazing (and quite messy) times and this is only the first of Freak’s Throwbacks...I have many many more photo’s and video’s to share.And we keep discovering lost and forgotten Freaks mixes and remixes which will possibly be released in time. The challenge grew when I realized that another one of my major influences, Mark Farina, had also remixed the track! Argentinian talent Lolu Menayed makes her debut on the label next week with her reworking of "Always" by Matt Tolfrey, featuring the blissed-out vocals of Tim Fuller. The original track, released in 2021 saw Matt Tolfrey's penchant for the less obvious and more curious sounds in house music, paired perfectly with Tim Fuller's deep, funk-fuelled vocals.
