Concert Catch-Up Time! CadaverMom and I went to 3 shows in less than 2 weeks:

1. Daði Freyr w/ Wolves of Glendale

2. Bush w/ Jerry Cantrell and Candlebox [we missed the 1st of the show's 3 openers, Tim Montana]

3. The Marías w/ Automatic

Daði was again incredible... obviously, and his wife Árný came out for a beautiful number they wrote together this time-- my pics of that were too darn blurry, sorry! Wolves of Glendale were new to us but we're fans now (check out their video for "Ricky"). CadaverMom's favorite band of all time is Bush and I used to carry the Candlebox cassette with me everywhere back in 1993-94 like the cool kid I was; having Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell on the bill was a hell of a bonus! And The Marías and Automatic were a dream pairing for me in particular, checking 2 must-see bands off my list in one go!

8 years ago today(!), CadaverCast premiered with this episode about what was then 4-year-old Alistair's favorite movie, DRACULA (1931)! We may have slowed down a bit recently thanks to chaos at the Monkey Farm, but we're still at it. We just wanted to take a minute today to say how grateful we are to all the critters and creeps out there who have supported us along the way! 🫀

Got out on Monday (sorry, I'm grading finals this week)! Here's what we saw:

- 14 night herons (12 adult/2 adolescent)
- 3 geese
- 1 blue heron
- 2 red winged blackbirds
- more ducks than we could count

(We also did a ton during a trip last week, but I still need to nab some pics from CadaverMom's phone!)

Got into our summer again today-- saw lots of birds and an angry rock too! Plus, we have a family of morning doves nesting outside my office window (pictured: Mary with babies Ketchup and Mustard, as named by Alistair; not pictured: Ted). At the Chicago River at River Park, we saw:

5 adult night herons
2 red winged black birds (w/ at least one baby in its nest we found)
9 ducks (5 adults)
38 geese (32 adults)
1 yellow finch
2 cormorants

Last night, CadaverMom and I saw at Schuba's Tavern for the 3rd time-- the last time, I believe half his band was out of commission with the H1N1 though, so it'd been a LONG while! Hopefully it won't take 15 years for us to catch him again! opened and absolutely killed!

Al won a pie on this year for memorizing more digits in pi than anyone else in their class. They memorized all the way up to the 38th decimal, give or take a couple!

In 2023, Alistair joined to learn martial arts, and after months of training, Al is proud to have earned their yellow belt this month! We haven't seen Al take to something with the level of dedication they've shown to their martial arts in ages! So, know that if you're not hearing from us at any point, Al is out here kicking butt!

Meant to post this WAY earlier, but I've been wrapped up in screenwriting work these last couple weeks. Hence, the general silence from the Monkey Farm! Anyway, CadaverMom and I went out to see on 12/10 at . Ginger Root puts on an incredible show with fun video and scripted components to strike a great balance between concert and something more traditionally theatrical that leans distinctly toward concert... if that makes sense at all. If you get a chance to see Ginger Root live at any point, I say you'd better do it!
