We are getting there thanks to the generosity of many fine folks out there. I’m overwhelmed and I feel blessed thanks to everyone’s wellingness to help.
We are still a little bit shy of reaching our goal please share this post if you can and or help contribute so I can get this done. People that contribute to this fundraiser get a 20% discount off recording time for the next two years. When the prices of everything are going up right now I should be raising my prices but I’m not.

This recording studio has been a Labor of Love for the last 11 years I know because I have a lot of equipment in there some of you think I’m rich but I live paycheck to paycheck to keep this thing rolling.
I I am very grateful for all the opportunities that I have been blessed with over these last 11 years. This fundraising campaign is going pretty well and I’ve been trying to save up as well but I’m still short of getting the roof fixed and I’d like to get it done before I leave in two weeks for my tour. I’ve got buckets in the live room to catch it when it rains. If there’s anybody out there that wants to help our music community this is an excellent chance yes you would be helping me continue offering a great service at a reasonable price. Thank you ✌️❤️🎼😊

I opened The Sound Shop Studio on September 15th, 2011 with the hopes of helping others with recording and producing their music. Since then we have served the artists of our fine Detroit area music scene in making great recordings. My landlords have allowed me lease the studio for a reasonable amount all these years with the stipulation that if something needs to be repaired, I would take care of it.
Well for the last 10 years we have made it through the economic crash and then Covid. I am so grateful to have been involved in so many meaningful music projects and have been able to cut excellent deals for musicians.
This Business has survived on a wing and a prayer all these years, and I would like to continue providing an excellent service at a reasonable price to artists who need a safe and comfortable environment to work on their art.
We need a new roof. Please help if you can.
Thanks for helping keep the music alive in our area.

John and I talk about his podcast Acoustic Alternatives with John Bommarito, recent developments in his radio career, the state of the music industry and the local music scene, and much more.

Thanks to John Bommarito one last time for starting off this incarnation of MCMS with us. Hope you enjoy!

In addition to my lo-fi musical endeavors, this page is now also going to be the (temporary) home of the Motor City Music Society podcast. Here's the first episode of the latest incarnation. Local p

Hey folks, so a bit of a surprise announcement here-- after some quiet preparation over the past month, we're happy to announce that Motor City Music Society will be returning in limited form starting this Sunday, October 17th.

Alex Bergslei (co-host from the 2018 season) will be conducting interviews at the Podcast Nation studio located in the Detroit Shipping Company. Kevin Wesley Williams and Erin Elise Accomando have given their blessing on this and may decide to join in the future. For now, the show will record once a month and focus on interviews only.

Our first guest is John Bommarito, who hosts Acoustic Alternatives with John Bommarito at Grove Studios and has had an extensive radio career throughout the Metro Detroit area. In addition to Acoustic Alternatives, he's currently at 89.3 WHFR.FM. We'll talk to him about those endeavors and much more.

The episode will be recorded this Sunday as mentioned and will be available on streaming services sometime the following week. A link will be provided here on the page once the show is posted.
