Finbarr Heslin has long been an advocate for animal welfare and legislative change and has worked extensively on issues such as Irish Greyhounds in Spain, Puppy Farms in Ireland, and advised for the ISPCA. His involvement with a working group for the then Minister for the Environment was the basis of the 2010 Dog Breeding Establishment Bill. He is involved in Micro-chipping from an EU perspective, and continues to advocate passionately for welfare reform in many areas. Mark Robinson is an Australian born broadcaster who has developed and worked on television and radio programs based around animal welfare and re-homing, such as Give a Pet a Home on Network 10 in Australia, 98fm in Dublin, and currently on East Coast FM in Wicklow. Mark has worked in Radio in Australia and Ireland, and has consulted and projected managed promotions in the US, Canada and Sth Africa. Finbarr says it’s a great mix. ‘Animal welfare is something I am passionate about, but being a responsible pet owner is also about fun, enjoying your pet and the experience of ownership. With this show we will integrate news, views, tips, and hear from guests who own pets, or work for the betterment of animals. We’ll also help pair people with pets through re-homing via Dogs Trust in Ireland. But whilst there is a serious side, pets are great fun and we aim to reflect that through the show. With my background and Mark’s broadcasting experience and his love of animals, we think it’s a good pairing.’
