*HAIR IN THE WIND*
We invite all poets from all countries to be part of the artistic-poetic performance HAIR IN THE WIND that will happen on the 8th of March – International Women Day
It is dedicated to the courage of Iranian women and their dramatic struggle that began after the killing of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish girl beaten to death by the morality police because she did not wear her veil properly, from which a lock of hair was sticking out.
The project conceived and curated by Antje Stehn is intended as a continuation of "Rucksack a Global Poetry Patchwork" which ended after two years of activity.

Iranian women protested by cutting their hair and burning hijabs on the streets. The symbol of the haircut, already a traditional mourning ceremony, has become the gesture of solidarity for Mahsa Amini.
Biologically hair only has the role of "thermal regulator", on a social level instead they play a function of fundamental importance in body language, they are a symbol of strength and sensuality, and also have the ability to express an infinite number of meanings in the cultural sphere, religious, sociological and anthropological. The history of the veil and the hidden hair is very articulated over the centuries: even in the culture and tradition of the Mediterranean peoples, the head of women has often been hidden by the veil.
The title of the work, "Hair in the wind", takes us back to a recurring topos in German poetry. It was coined at the beginning of the 19th century by the first German poet, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, in the poem At the Tower, where the author lets her hair down and like a maenad releases it in the wind. An act considered rebellious, unacceptable in its time. This topos was taken up by Ingeborg Bachmann in The Song of an Island and by several other poets.
