Set deep in a remote marshland, The Marshes follows Dr Pria Anan (Dafna Kronental), a deeply committed university researcher negotiating a high-pressure work environment while fighting to save her beloved marshland ecosystem. But time is not on her side. The future of her research and the marshland depend on her last field trip, accompanying her is friend and rival Ben (Mathew Cooper) and assistant Will (Sam Delich). At first Pria is certain she has control of the world around her however in an environment where her fears begin to overwhelm her, tensions mount and control becomes elusive. Doggedly she continues until fear becomes manifested in the form of a horrifying evil and she must abandon science and focus on survival.

In the wake of her mother’s death, Lia, a 16 year-old urban princess, is sent to spend the summer with her Gwich’in grandmother in a small Canadian Subarctic community. Desperate to return to city life she steals a boat and sets out into the vast Northern wilderness hoping to reach the nearest town. Totally lost, she is discovered by Alfred, a Gwich’in hunter who reluctantly takes her under his wing as he navigates the massive landscape in search of caribou. When Alfred is severely wounded in a bear attack Lia pushes on and fights to save both of their lives.
