As LCC Silvercrest School Senior High School welcomes another year, another set of aspiring student leaders steps up with determination and visions during the MITING DE AVANCE held last August 21 2024 at Carlos R. Mojares Gymnasium.

The program started and everyone was excited to see how the candidates will articulate their visions and platforms for the improvement of the school environment. Bound at 7:45 am, the master of the ceremony Ms. Jaycel Saman, opened the program by a prayer lead by Ms. Nicole Pacalda seconded by the singing of our National Anthem, compassed by Mr. Froilan D. Salonga then followed by the singing of the LCC Hymn. Before the debate proper, the school principal, Mr. Eric S. Masupil gave his introductory speech for everyone, and wished luck for the candidates. He emphasized the value of the institutionโ€™s core value of Leadership, Competence and Commitment. According to Mr. Masupil. โ€œLeadership is being a role model to everyone, who is worthy of following, and influencing one another to lead other students to be a better person.โ€ โ€œItโ€™s not power, itโ€™s not authority, itโ€™s responsibility and accountability to own up to who you are, what you doโ€ he added.

Thereafter, the main event started and each of the partylist started to introduce themselves. Loud cheers from the crowd applauded for each of the candidates to show their support. The two partylist, ALAS and LEADERSHIFT took turns to make themselves known to everyone starting from their representatives from each strand to their presidents.

ALAS Partylist, known for their experienced candidates, diverts their focus on the transparency and accountability of the student government. They endorsed a plan on having the students be aware of whatโ€™s happening inside the organization, especially the disclosure of funds and audits. They also emphasized the empowerment of the student body by using their voice to speak up for any suggestions they have to make a school environment better.

LEADERSHIFT Partylist, new faces but also experienced student leaders, emphasizes their platform on making the school environment clean by drawing a plan for segregating waste into their respective categories. This will be a big help for the School Utilities, as the issue of trash and uncleanliness is a big concern of the faculty and students even last school year.

On the other hand, Richmond Alejandro Perez, an independent candidate running for the position of Public Information Officer, also enthusiastically convinced everyone on his credentials to be deserving of the position. Lastly, Ildren Josh Lee Broso, an independent presidential candidate, showed an energetic introduction to everyone, by listing his experiences on being a student leader of the different organizations.

After the introduction, an energizing and melodious intermission number was performed by Bandharana, lead by their vocalist, Jim Carl Romina. One of the most highlighted song they performed was the โ€œLiwanag sa Dilimโ€ by Rivermaya. The song contains the ambition of oneโ€™s heart to serve the people by being the voice who canโ€™t be heard, stimulating courage to stand up to make a change.

After the intermission number, the question and answer portion began. Ms. Maite Queen Nepacena, stated the rules and mechanics of the session, ensuring everyone has the equal opportunity to address the questions of everyone. As the portion began, students lined up to ask the candidates on some issues and concerns about the school and what they can do to make up for it. The questions ranged from different concerns on areas such as the cleanliness of the school, extra-curricular activities, organized dissemination of information, transparency, as well as the fair and inclusive treatment for all strands. The former Supreme Student Government president, Andrea Nicole Marzo, was also present in the session. She then asks the candidates what they think are the shortcomings of the previous set of SSG Leaders and what are their plans to fill that gap. The outgoing SSG Vice President External, Mharsene Calingasan also asked some of the candidates to recite the vision and mission of the school. Moreover, some students also asked on different issues such as what they would do if their perspective is not aligned with the perspective of the majority.

The Candidates were truly prepared and composed with their response. They really proved to everyone what they can do to contribute to the academic institution. It was till then the last question was asked that ended the session. This event truly fulfills its purpose to give guidance to the student on who they think should be in the position.

Every candidate is truly deserving of the position but itโ€™s now up to the students to decide. The Supreme Student Government Election will be held on August 27, 2024 on tuesday. Everyone is encourage to participate on this crucial moment as this serves an opportunity to select the leaders who will shape the future of the improvement of the school

To have a comprehensive overview of the core subjects, Practical Research 1 and Practical Research 2, the graduating batch of ABM, GAS, HUMSS, and ICT, along with the lower batch of ABM, attended the IMRAD Research Writing Seminar, headed by the Senior High School Department research advisers, last Thursday, August 8.

Held at the newly renovated Audio-Visual Room (AVR) of the Lipa City Colleges main building, the seminar commenced at exactly 8:00 am with an opening remark by one of the research advisers from the Senior High School Department, Ms. Cherry Lee M. Africa.

Thereafter, Ms. Nicole S. Pacalda, also a research adviser from the same department, formally welcomed and introduced the Director for Research and Creative Works, Ms. April D. Acielo, as the Resource Speaker for the entire morning.

Maโ€™am Apple, as she was commonly known among the students, cordially engaged with the attendees, beginning by asking about their personal state while taking part in the seminar.

Sequentially, to officially open the topic of research, she highlighted the 3 trifocal functions of the institution

โ€œIn Lipa City Colleges, research is one of the trifocal functions; actually, in every institution, alongside the curriculum and instruction and community extension,โ€ she emphasized.

Meanwhile, the students then shared their various insights, in line with the question, โ€œWhy should we conduct research?โ€.

Furthermore, after multiple sets of questions and recollection of initial knowledge, the students were led to the full definition of research โ€“ the systematic, empirical, and critical investigation of hypothetical propositions about the presented relations of a natural phenomenon.

Afterward, Maโ€™am Apple mentioned the methods of knowing in research, namely, empiricism or the use of direct sensory observation, tenacity or the habit of superstition, and intuition or believing what feels true.

Moreover, the enthusiasm of the students was stimulated further as the tips and steps in research writing were elaborated; it started with thinking of a reasonable research problem, followed by the validity of the problem, formulation of the research title, and finally, the assessment of the objectives of the study.

Additionally, the attendees were given websites that could serve as sources for Related Literature and Studies, such as Google Scholar, EBSCO, Philippine E-Journal, DOAJ, SAGE, ELSEVIER, ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), and LIBGEN.

On top of that, the formulation of the research title was explained in successive order, followed by the enumeration and discussion of the sections of research with the IMRAD format.

Ultimately, at the near end of the seminar, Maโ€™am Apple provided a run-through of the CARS Model or Creating a Research Space, consisting of 3 distinct moves.

The kinds of research and types of questionnaires were also recalled thoroughly, allowing the students to remember their past lessons in their former research subjects.

Finally, to wrap up the seminar properly, Maโ€™am Apple called up a quick question and answer portion to help students with information retention entailing the seminarโ€™s topic.

She was then awarded with a certificate of appreciation by the LCC Silvercrest Senior High School Principal Mr. Eric S. Masupil, for her time and effort as the Resource Speaker of the event.

To officially close the event, Ms. Pacalda delivered meaningful closing remarks, expressing her gratitude and wishes to the speaker and all the attendees present at the seminar.

With the crowd full of anticipation, excitement, and nervousness, faculty members Mr. Froilan Salonga and Ms. Jaycel Saman smoothly woke the crowd up through various trivia questions. Slowly unraveling what to expect in the Senior High School Departmentโ€”this involves the strands, faculty members, sections and even guessed songs that are hard not to dance to.

The program officially started as the Masters of Ceremony, Mr. Ivan Eroles and Ms. Riezel Roxas takes over. After solemn prayer and paying respect to Philippine flag, they open up the floor for the senior high school students to showcase their talents.

While keeping up with the hyped crowd, talented Silvercresters graced their way on to the stage as they perform trendy dance moves from the HiYaw Club. Afterwards, a heart-tugging music from Bandharana filled the whole gymnasium. These convey the fact that LCC hones not just academic skills but also different fields of artistry that will surely develop oneโ€™s personality. The performances surely made a great impression and impact on both Grade 11 and 12 students.

On the other hand, learning is not always full of rainbows and laughter, hence it consists of numerous pressure and struggles impossible for students not to experience. There might be inevitable challenges coming on the way but during the opening remarks, Dr. Lino Balantac, the Assistant Principal of the Senior High School Department, assures both the students and parents that despite incoming hardships, they will guide everyone with open arms. By means of igniting and honing the core values of the institution, the students will embody and carry the principles of the school, turning them into morally upright individuals.

Dr. Balantac alongside Sir Eric Masupil, the Principal of the Senior High Department, strongly recommended LCC Silvercrest as an option to pick as this school not only focuses on academics but also offers multiple opportunities to hone multiple abilities.

Furthermore, passing the mic to Sir Masupil, he discussed comprehensively the core values, school calendar, class schedules as well as the content of the student manual which consists of the offenses and corresponding punishments.

Moving forward, last yearโ€™s Grade 11โ€”now Grade 12 students, took a step closer to achieving the outcome of their hardwork as they get recognized for their efforts. Students who achieved desirable results for their grades that fit the criteria, were awarded with medals alongside their parents and guardians. Proudly walking on the stage with confidence and appreciation of their hard work.

The program ended with a heartfelt closing remarks from the Co-Chairman of the Event Comittee, Mr. Christian Janiero Punzalan.

LCC Silvercrest Senior High School provides an experience of a lifetime. Producing learners with Leadership, Competence and Commitment, equipped with strong values and principle; components towards achieving excellence.

The Career Fair and Fun Day was celebrated this April 24, 2024, Wednesday, at the Carlos R. Mojares Gymnasium in LCC Silvercrest School with a theme โ€œThe Road So Taken Among Varying Strandsโ€ by presenting different activities and booths each strand of the Senior High School (SHS) department has prepared for the Grade 10 silvercresters to experience.

A prayer formally started the program just before the entering of the colors for the singing of the national anthem. Hosted by Ms. Ezra Rodriguez and Ms. Audrey Mendoza, they called to come up on stage the principal of the SHS department, Sir Erik S. Masupil, who gave his thoughtful speech then followed by the Scholarship assistant, Ms. Kim Alyanna E. Gonzales, who also gave a meaningful message to the crowd.

Before moving on through the day, six strands of the SHS department were introduced to give the Grade 10 students an idea of what characteristics differentiate the strands with each other and what they can expect on it.

The ABM strand that stands for Accountancy, Business, and Management was the first strand to get known, presented by the strand president Ms. Aira Grace Capistrano who shared what to expect on the ABM strand. ABM is a business-related strand for college programs where the students can learn the basic concepts of accounting, management, and corporate operations.

For the undecided ones, Ms. Lyra Fadrillan, the president of the GAS strand, eventually presented the General Academic Strand where it is the generalist approach in preparing for college. The students are free to choose any college degree program even if it's under the other strand as GAS doesnโ€™t specifically specialize in any strand.

Home Economics or HE, a Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL) program was given the spotlight to be presented after GAS, by the HE strand president, Mr. Ivan Benson Perez. This strand focuses on different activities you can learn such as cookery, bartending, commercial cooking, front office services, housekeeping, bread and pastry production, food guiding, and events management, as introduced by Ms. Audrey Mendoza.

Ms. Maria Arianne Pelias took the stage to share about the strand she takes and is the president of the Humanities and Social Sciences strand or HUMSS. This strand specialized in subjects such as creative writing, world religion and belief system, trends, networks, and critical thinking. It specifically tackles a deeper understanding of the people and the society in a way the students can enhance their speaking, writing, and thinking skills.

The next strand to be explained also by the president of their strand ICT, that stands for Information and Communication Technology, Mr. John Michael Veluya. The students from ICT particularly learn about technology where they get to develop their skills and knowledge in technology as their specialized subjects include Computer Programming and Technical Drafting and Illustration. This strand is also a TVL program.

The last strand to get presented by its president, Ms. Althea Ynid Batilo, is the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics strand also known as STEM. Concepts that require Science and Mathematics are usual things students who take these strands encounter. This strand is specifically for fields such as health, engineering, and computer technology where they can improve one's skills in better understanding theories and principles the science and mathematics subjects have while increasing the level of awareness and involvement in world issues.

After knowing all six strands that were introduced and explained by the hosts and strand presidents, a pre-game was played that was from a known social media app, the โ€œwe areโ€ฆโ€ and โ€œof courseโ€ฆโ€ trend. It was played by the students telling the strand they are from and what are the things that make them a part of it by saying those to the โ€œof course.โ€

The Grade 10 students were also interviewed if they had any expectations for the event and if they had made up their minds on choosing a strand they decided to take and was answered with enthusiasm. Then, after the interviewing session, HIYAW members performed their intermission number that lit the stage up and fired up everyone just before playing the games SHS students had ready.

There are two (2) games that were prepared, โ€œConducted Stories'' and โ€œTap and Chase: Reverse IT.โ€ The first game, Conducted Stories, simply showed the creative, and imaginative sides of the participants as they played it. Meanwhile, the second game, Tap and Chase: Reverse IT energised the students as it was an interactive game physically.

As the games ended, the students took their breaks and lunch after the engaging activities. Itโ€™s for them to rest and conserve energy for the afternoon activities in the program where the booths the student leaders in the SHS department come up with to make the Grade 10 students engaged and entertained while showing them what to expect and whatโ€™s fun on the strand they are taking.

The students got back to the Gymnasium for the closing remarks after experiencing different activities from the booths that may have encouraged them in knowing why those strands fit their preferences and meant for them to take. Before officially closing the event, selected HIYAW members serenade everyone inside the Gymnasium. Lastly, Ms. Andrea Nicole Marzo, the Supreme Student Government President of the Senior High School, gave her closing messages that thoroughly inspired the students.

Within the singing of the LCC Hymn, the event ended successfully while looking forward that the minds and hearts of the Grade 10 students had opened and got enlightened on what strand and paths they made up their minds to and what truly they wanted to take.
