Best photos from Week 3: Downtown Stroll Series

Sometimes, it's just the season. Go with what resonates with you. It's okay to pause and try new things. That's how you'll discover what you're passionate about.

I realized it's about how you frame things. I wanted to engage in something that I could be consistently creative with. I loved the season when I was all-in with podcasting, but it demanded too much time. It's not the season for it yet. And I'm glad my current outlet is taking photos, even with just my phone.

In today's episode, Ramon shares a significant mishap that happened during an exam and how it made him feel like things just weren't going well.

If no one has asked you recently how you're doing and reassured you that things will be okay, even if they're tough, let me tell you that yes, things might be challenging, and it could be really tough, but eventually, things will be okay, and you're doing fine.

A new word that I learned, and let's ask ChatGPT what it means and get an example from it.

"Contrive" is a verb that means to deliberately plan or create something, often with the intent of achieving a specific outcome. It can involve devising a scheme or coming up with a plan, sometimes clever or inventive. For example, you might contrive a plan to surprise someone on their birthday or solve a complex problem.

At work last Friday, I had an unexpected encounter that reminded me of the power of positivity in everyday interactions.

I was serving a customer when he surprised me with a simple but heartwarming comment. He told me that I looked happy, and it got me thinking about how our demeanor can influence the people we interact with.

In response to the customer's observation, I replied with a smile and said, "thanks! I try. 😌" It was a small gesture, but it set a positive tone for our interaction.

I realized that regardless of whether others choose to do it or not, there's immense value in making every interaction special. We never truly know what the other person is going through, and a simple act of kindness can make a significant difference in their day.

So, I'm making it a personal goal to bring a little extra positivity to each interaction, even if it's just through a smile or a warm greeting. Who knows, a cup of coffee and a bit of kindness might be all someone needs to brighten their day. ⚡️

Today, I learned the difference between 'I came from...' and 'I come from...' during my ESOL class. 😮

Our professor asked us to introduce ourselves and state our home countries.

Normally, I would say 'I came from the Philippines' because I thought it was the correct tense. 🤣

Our professor explained the difference.

He said, 'I came from...' is in the past tense and implies the place where you originated at some point in the past.

For example, 'I came from Makati (a city in the Philippines)' means at some point in the past you came from Makati, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's where you are right now.

On the other hand, 'I come from...' is in the present tense and indicates your current place of origin or where you consider yourself originally from.

When you say, 'I come from the Philippines,' it means I consider the Philippines as my home country or place of origin.

So, 'came' is for talking about your past origin, and 'come' is for talking about your current origin.

It was just fascinating to learn/relearn this kind of stuff, makes us effective and better communicators. ✌️

"One thing I've really struggled with at 33 is realizing that one day isn't promised.

There is no such thing as future guarantees."

Met an 80 year old Aussie this morning who came up to me and asked where to get a good cup of tea. Of course, with my curiosity that led to almost an hour of great conversation. People are so kind when you don't live life in between the lines. This gentleman flew all the way…

55 seconds... That’s how long I spent preparing to deliver my opening spiel after hitting the record button. 🥲

Usually, you’d want to start with high energy, but I found myself panicking. 🥶

In that split second, my mind went blank... 🙃

Instead of freezing up completely, I thought, “Hey, let’s chill for a sec and go when you’re ready.” 😌

Eventually, I got to say my opening spiel—it wasn’t the high-energy kick-off I had hoped for, but I kept my cool and went on with it prepared.

The recording went well and this might just be one of our best episodes yet content wise! 😂

Stay tuned! I’ll be uploading it this weekend, I promise! ✌️

For fun!

Hello! I am Ramon aka Mong. I am really not a solid gamer, I play just for fun and for pastime! The first console that we got was N64, when a lot of kids were playing the Ps1. My uncle who lived in the States gave us something that kids don’t usually have in our town. Super Smash Bros, Pokemon Stadium, WCW Nitro were our first games! My cousins would come over and we would play at Lola’s house the whole afternoon. The good times!

When the N64 got broken, my cousins and I cousins dreamed of having our first PS console and by the time we were able to earn our own money... the dream finally came true.

We bought our own PS4!

Join me on this new adventure! Let’s go!
