Happy Memorial Day! Did you know that women can be leaders in the Army ROTC? Thanks to the efforts of General Barrye Price, the answer is Sir, yes, Sir! A UH alumni, General Price worked to empower officers such as Lieutenant Colonel Melissa Comiskey, who served in the first women-integrated infantry/armor brigade in the Army and is the current director of the Army ROTC program at the University of Houston. Their combined efforts have lifted once restrictive gender barriers and allowed other UH students like Second Lieutenant Katelyn Kubosh to thrive in the UH Army ROTC program.

Dr. Debbie Harwell was recently featured on the podcast “Town Square” with Ernie Manouse discussing the 100th anniversary of Miller Outdoor Theatre. Dr. Harwell spoke about the history of the theater and how the growth of Houston as a city prompted the desire for live performances that were free to the public. From its large stage, to its twenty Corinthian-style columns, and large Miller Hill to watch performances from, Miller Outdoor Theater has become a Houston favorite for music, theater, and ballet.
