CS edition of 25 pro-dubbed green cassette in transparent purple Norelco case:
Tynan Krakoff (DNT Records) has been quietly crafting Meadow Argus's warped organ and tape works for several years before beginning in earnest to leak them out to the public-at-large in 2021. "Spool's Gold" picks up where last year's "The Green Light" left off -- warm tape murk and distorted voices crackling through layers of gunky drone and dizzying loops. This is some seriously heady stuff.

Liminal Haze is the duo of Craig Stewart Johnson (Rovellasca, Invisible City Records) and Ross Scott-Buccleuch (Diurnal Burdens, Steep Gloss). The seventh in an ongoing series, 'Volume 7' further continues the group's efforts of unearthing haunting, spectral tape music.

Taking a break from her recent forays into (somewhat) more traditional songwriting, Rachel Evans continues her prolific run of Ho**er Vision releases with a brief new pair of instrumental electronic pieces on "No Domino". A woozy opener, 'Before Dawn' sets a late night mood shyly mirrored on B side's 'After Dark'.

With heavy hearts we share the news that on February 9th, Mitchell Turner passed away. Dr. Turner, as we couldn't help but continue calling him, was someone we both held in the highest regard. He was one of our 1st supporters & one of the 1st people to trust us with their music.

Motion Sickness of Time Travel “If We Were Landscapes”

Recorded during and around the same time as the song-based "Ouroboros", "If We Were Landscapes" stretches out over two long sides. Each side contains a number of suites, often built around treated acoustic instruments. Five minutes into the increasingly orchestral 'Self-Portrait in Decay' and backward vocals only hint at the full-on song that emerges from the maelstrom. This is a song Rachel used to play at coffee shops in the mid-aughts, and here revisited some 15 years later, the song takes on new meanings. Just as the electronic drums build, the song begins to drift back into a half-asleep, gentle folk collage. The final stabs of synthesizer lap against the guitar echo like VHS seafoam, before they too decay. 'Your Layered Silhouette, Unwinding' begins with what sounds like a distant radio station broadcasting backward. Layers accumulate, veiling the interception in wow and flutter. The static fades and a single Rhodes piano sputters its morse code-like melody, a sinking ship slowly being pulled under by deep synth bows.
Originally self-released on CD-R and 12" lathe-cuts, this newly remastered version of "If We Were Landscapes" finally gets the cassette treatment with new art by Rachel Evans.

Night Sky Body “Entire Seasons”

Night Sky Body, the new project by longtime Ho**er Vision favorite Frank Baugh, follows up a string of increasingly interesting releases (on Nailbat Tapes, Sound As Language, and his own Kim Dawn) with what is sure to be regarded as one of his best recordings to date.
Even for those who've followed Baugh's decade-plus run of exploratory genre scrambling (mostly working as Sparkling Wide Pressure), "Entire Seasons" will reveal new surprises with each new listening. The piano and finger snaps that start the album might be something of a red herring. Soon enough a Godzilla scream erupts from a guitar, and the drum machine locks into a brain-hammering pulse. Finally, little waves of noise scrape and pluck the air while a bass slowly drops out of tune. And that's just the first track, 'Viu'. 'Closed Circuit TV' follows with a crawling, syrupy post-punk drum and keyboard. Frank's dream journal vocals cut through the haze: "We might be at some kind of summer camp". There's the Sabbath-esque riff towards the end of 'Chaotic Pool', smothered in feedback. 'Claw the Walls', similar to 'Closed Circuit TV', slithers along like slurred purple industrial. The piano and alien sounds ballad that begins 'Skuttle and Grasp' fades around 2 minutes before the song drifts into familiar Sparkling Wide Pressure-style guitar and cassette interplay. 'Soft Concept' is somehow equal parts pastoral and industrial. Shimmering guitars give way to a controlled burn of harsh noise, left smoldering. The slow-core daydream of 'A Past' evokes the half-remembered days of teenage autumn. Gray afternoons spent wandering around in the woods or driving slowly through puddles, locked into the back-and-forth of the windshield wipers. After lulling us briefly into a false sense of safety, 'Haunt Values' closes with a burst of strangled noise rock.
While retaining the psychedelic/nostalgic dream logic as his former project, Night Sky Body ventures into darker territory. This is Baugh's shadow work. Whether jittering anxiously or drifting on slow-motion vocals, "Entire Seasons" sounds like a mixtape made inside a dream.
