Whelp.
I've got my first British diesel locomotive. I can tell you now I'm a big fan of how it looks. I've only had it long enough to do some running-in. So far, I'm impressed.

Youtube videos should resume soon. I took the last week to get some work done on the layout. I started detailing the engine yard. I got a lot of ballasting done in the shunting yard and a few other spots around the layout. I also tidied up the wiring under the layout (no pic because it still looks like a butcher job 😅).

Oh! and sorted out a wiring issue with the shunting yard.

I found this old Bachmann Union Pacific 119 on Ebay for 40 🅱️ollars. I couldn't pass it up. These particular models have a negative reputation. The build quality isn't great, cosmetically they're rather simple, they aren't good pullers, and mechanically... they aren't very reliable. That being said, mine showed up fully functional. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I'll probably save this review for a special occasion.

SIX weeks until opening day! Beginning May 4, we'll be open on Saturdays and Sundays through Memorial Day when we'll open for daily service through Labor Day. Make plans to visit now! We open at 9:30 for ticket sales. A train departs the station at the top of the hour throughout the day until the last train at 4:00.

In this video, I give my thoughts on the New Miniatures Generic 4-Wheel Coaches (V2) from Shapeways.

This is kind of an experimental video for me. This is my first video with music and my first experience with 3D printed anything. I also played around with a few different camera angles to show you my work. This "off to the side/over the shoulder" method is the best I've found so far, but I'm still not happy with it.

This is kind of a big deal for me, I got my first proper (see what I did there? 😎) YouTube shout-out. Hylton and I have been comparing notes on YouTube stuff. Something we have in common is that we both model British trains but live outside of the UK. Hylton lives in South Africa and I live... in the USA. We've both been pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the British model train community has been. I look forward to seeing our channels grow together. He's just about to break the 1000 subscriber mark! Maybe you can be the 1000th subscriber!
