PASCAGOULA
Let's take a step back and see the beginnings of what was to become an important part of not only Hugo Krebs' legacy, but both Pascagoula and the state of MS legacy... The beloved LPK House. Krebs family members inhabited the house for over 200 years. We assume that was not difficult, considering Hugo Krebs fathered 14 children. Not even hurricanes could completely destroy this historic home. Today, it remains the oldest still standing structure in the entire MS Valley.

“The Indianola Freedom House helps to hold the space to preserve the energy that was poured into helping oppressed people. The mid-1960’s was a dangerous and terrifying time for African Americans and for those who assisted them to simply obtain their right to vote. The Indianola Freedom House continues to stand as a testament to the sacrifices of those brave heroes and sheroes that were the engine of the Civil Rights Movement.” Dr. Felicia King Owner - Indianola Freedom House The restoration of the Indianola Freedom House is part of a statewide initiative of Mississippi Heritage Trust with funding from Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area and National Parks Service to preserve the living heritage of the civil rights movement in Mississippi. Blue Magnolia Films is a production company dedicated to telling stories of creativity and resilience in the rural south. JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI "As the first Islamic history and culture museum in America, we are really breaking those barriers within and outside the Muslim community. Challenging inaccuracies about Islam. We challenge the notion that Muslims don't belong here. We are living with American values and we are part and parcel of the American story … Islam is about peace, unity, justice, equity and love.” Emad Al-Turk - Co-founder, International Museum of Muslim Cultures The International Museum of Muslim Cultures (IMMC) of Jackson, Mississippi, celebrates 20 years of service with a virtual fundraiser and photo documentary series, “IMMC Muslim Photo Stories: Voices of Beloved Community”, produced in partnership with Blue Magnolia Films. Opened in April 2001, IMMC is the first museum of its kind in the country dedicated to educate the American public about Islamic history and culture and the contributions of diverse Muslims to world civilization. Co-founders, Emad Al-Turk, Karen Al-Turk, Okolo Rashid, Sababu Rashid, and their families, hope the museum will bridge people of all faiths, including Christians, Jewish and Muslim, to serve as a model for peaceful coexistence and Beloved Community. IMMC is located at 201 E. Pascagoula St., Jackson, MS 39201, where the Timbuktu Exhibit is on display; its satellite site at 101 East Capitol Street, Jackson, MS 39201, houses the display of the Covenants Exhibit.
