Jonny @thebeardedplantaholic and Ben @worcesterterrariums turned out to be the loveliest (and funniest!) podcast guests for On The Ledge, but this was an episode with a difference - it was recorded LIVE in front of an audience at Malvern. The Malvern Spring Show recently played host to the first @greenrooms_market Houseplant Festival and I loved getting a chance to meet these two and also support the excellent work of Sarah @theplantrescuer and Ian @liquidgoldleaf. Thanks to everyone who came, listened and asked questions!

These Schlumbergera lutea cuttings are doing really well! @theplantrescuer I will make more for you!
@farmernick and I had such a laugh talking about all things olant in #ontheledgepodcast episode 271. I hit him with six quick-fire questions and my favourite question concerned the plantagonist - the plant you absolutely can’t get on with. For Nick that was the Pilea peperomioides, aka Chinese money plant. If you sign up for the meet the listener slot you get to tell me about YOUR plantagonist! Dm me for details. Listen to the episode via the link in my bio.
Take some coleus cuttings now to keep the display going! Loads more advice and info on coleus in #ontheledgeoodcast episode 62. Link in bio.

In #OnTheLedgePodcast this week I talk to @farmernick about all things planty, including the horror of houseplant impulse buys... click the link in my bio to listen now..
I can’t figure out if the snail is loving the water flow or clinging on for dear life. Maybe both. If you can relate to this snail in terms of how your week is going, I feel you.
Calling all LGBTQ+ people! Please contribute to my upcoming episode talking about ‘what houseplants mean to me’. Just record a voice note and/or drop me some text to [email protected]… by this Friday!

The lowdown on root mealybugs
Root mealybugs .... urgh. These are NOT the same as the fluffy white creatures you find above ground on plants; they are harder to spot and even harder to eradicate. Get the lowdown on this denizen of the deep (by which I mean your houseplant's roots) in #OnTheLedgePodcast episode 243 - click my profile for a link to listen now.

Even if you only have five minutes to spare for your houseplants this weekend, #OnTheLedgePodcast episode 213 has you covered! I offer up three quick things you can do to give them a helping hand. Just remember the initials R-P-M!
🌿R is for ROTATE
🌿P is for PRUNE
🌿M is for MULCH
Putting plants on a lazy susan can help when pruning - allowing you to see the plant from all sides!
This Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Queen' didn't need much pruning but I gave her a spin anyway!

#PerronesPlants is back!
Oxalis vulcanicolla 'Plum Crazy' is a gem of a plant from the wood sorrel family that comes from Central America and southeast Mexico.
There are lots of O. volcanicola cultivars out there, but this is my fave for its lovely plummy leaves with random cream and pink variegation. It's a scrambler of a plant so be prepared to hack it back!
Thanks to @perky.plants for giving this one to me!

Merry Christmas everyone! Here is Wolfie opening his gift. (He is such a good dog, he doesn’t touch anything unless he is invited to.)
I hope you are all “within acceptable parameters” (as I like to say) on this day, which can be joyous for some, is not the easiest for others and downright horrible for a few. Whatever your situation, Wolfie sends you a big hairy cuddle!
Thankyou for all your support this year. You are all amazing.

Did you know that a thrips infestation on your houseplants
can start with just one female?
In #OnTheLedgePodcast episode 204 I talk to entomologist Professor William Kirk, who has spent the last 40 years studying thrips. I find out how they attack plants and what you can do about it.
