Ashgrove Music provides a recording studio in a beautiful, rural setting. The main studio is part of a 250 year old stone barn, which sits in the owners' ten acres, alongside a natural stream with a succession of small waterfalls. A decked area around the studio provides an elevated view of the stream and surrounding wooded areas on one side with open views of the rolling Carmarthenshire countrysi
de in the other direction. Ashgrove Music also provides a home to Sticks and Picks Music Tuition where experienced musician and teacher Ron Savory teaches acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, mandolin and drums. Pupils of Sticks and Picks will receive a discount on any bookings with the recording studio. Our primary aim at the recording studio is to get the very best result for you; this means getting the best performance from you and then letting our expert sound engineer work his magic on the mix, although of course you are welcome to take the recorded threads away and mix them yourself. Liz (one of the owners) is a musician herself and has experienced recording at other studios. Sometimes you feel nervous and unrelaxed and it is hard to perform your best when you feel like that! So our aim is to do all we can to make you feel happy and relaxed and comfortable. The peaceful rural surroundings certainly help with that and we believe that the rustic decor, log stove and various options for lighting in the barn help too. We have a separate control room so you would not have the sound engineer sat in with you when you perform. We also feel that worrying about the cost and clock watching is not the most relaxing thing! So we are very flexible with how we time your day in the studio and we will finish what we are working on at a natural place rather than stop as soon as we get to a certain time. It is also important that you are kept hydrated, particularly if you are singing! Tea and coffee are freely available as is chilled water. You are of course welcome to bring your own food and drink, but should you wish to order lunch in, there are many types of food outlets within 10 minutes. You may wish to pop out yourself or if you don't want to interrupt the recording for too long, Paul will happily go to collect your food for you and bring it back - there is no charge for this service (although you would have to pay for your own lunch)! :)
