Shout out to amashouri for my first video on Instagram... Adam took this yesterday on his iPhone at the summit of Suicide Rock in Idyllwild, CA after climbing "Valhalla" 5.11a, an ascent that would have granted you entry into the fabled crew of the Stonemasters in the 1970's. The history and technical demands of this climb are what make it so worthwhile! This was only my second time climbing with Adam, but after our first outing to Tahquitz where we climbed "Super Pooper" 5.10b with the "Price of Fear" 5.10c finish, "Open Book" 5.9, and simil-climbing "Fingertrip" 5.7 all in one day, I knew that a new partnership had been formed. Part of what makes a good climbing partner is their level of excitement, morale, and willingness to commit to the unknown, which is why I'm thankful to have met Adam and I'm looking forward to conquering some more challenging adjectives this year. Yosemite Valley here we come!

Bouldering is hard! But at least I'm having fun and trying my best- it's a big learning process for me getting outside of my comfort zone (where are all the cracks?!). I've never been that into the bouldering because of the crowds and popularity, but I've been enjoying going out to the Buttermilks by myself early in the morning or late in the evening and working on some projects. For the first time I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to working on my weaknesses in bouldering and sport climbing the rest of the year in Bishop. If you see a guy flailing on all the moderate classics wearing blue shorts and glasses this season, come say hello and maybe give me some beta- God knows I could use it! //Here's a short clip of me flailing on the "Ironman Traverse" V4 in the Milks this morning- much different than the traverses I've been doing lately, if you know what I mean 😏 Time to train and get stronger!

When Peter Croft helped design the new North Face Cinder Pack, I'm pretty sure he had snowy descents like this in mind. The durable waterproof material not only prevents your bag from being chewed up by little critters at the base, it also works great as a sled and helps keep your butt dry on the way down, so you can hop on and ride it like a pig. Good times hanging out in Bishop last weekend for the 10th Annual "Fall Highball" event put on by the American Alpine Club. It was great seeing everyone come together and celebrate the amazing community on the Sierra Eastside. Even though I'm living in Reno for the winter, Bishop is still only a short drive away and I'm psyched to spend most of my time off sport climbing in the Owens River Gorge. In order to increase my chances of sending this route, I decided to skip the bolt right in the middle of the crux so I would have enough energy left to do the last few powerful moves to the anchor, but that time it didn't work! 5 weeks ago I took a ground fall and fractured my hand while attempting “Star Wall Crack” at Donner Summit. My good friend johnconnell_ was belaying me when it happened, so I’ve been doing my best to return the favor during my recovery and support him on his quest to do the same. It’s been fun to hang out at Star Wall again and see his progression on this classic route. Looking forward to being able to climb again next week! I’m a bit behind the times with this, but The Dawn Wall film comes out next week- get psyched! Tickets are selling out fast, so try to get your seat now if you can. The longer you climb, the more wear and tear you put on your rope. After a while, the last 5ft will either begin to fray or flatten out, (especially if you’ve been taking repeated falls on sharp, worn-out carabiners), so it’s common to trim the ends of your rope to increase its longevity. Just make sure to re-measure your rope and mark the middle again if you do! The steps are simple: Cut, burn, tape, and then - keep climbing! That’s why I always have a leathermantools with me at the crag. After Pakistan, I told my friends that “when I get back to Las Vegas, I want to party like I just won the Stanley Cup,” 🏆😎🍾🙌🏻 but I didn’t think they would actually take me seriously… Then this is what I came home to after twincannons picked me up from the airport, accompanied by a pair of ski goggles and a cowboy trophy that said: “This ain’t my first rodeo” 🤠 I was SHOCKED. My friends went above and beyond, fully exceeding my expectations… What a memorable end to an already epic trip!
