🌊Ahoy Fellow Sailors and Cruisers! 🌊
I hope this finds you well out on the water or dreaming of your next adventure!
I'm diving into a passion project to learn from the collective wisdom of this incredible sailing and cruising community. The twists and turns of our sailing journeys, the lessons learned, and the friendships forged all create a rich tapestry that I'd love to explore.
That's why I'm inviting YOU to join me for a casual Zoom chat. Here's what I'm curious about:
🔹 What are your concerns when it comes to sailing offshore?
🔹 What resources or courses have been most helpful to you?
🔹 What is keeping you from cutting the lines and cruising?
🔹 Videos/Influencers that you love?
This is specifically for those that are dreaming of cutting the lines and sailing away but aren’t quite ready to cut the lines. Whatever the reasoning your insights are invaluable.
Interested in joining the conversation? 🌟 I only need 30-40min of your time. Please use the link below to schedule a zoom call with me, send me a private message, or respond to this post, and we'll set up a time!

And, of course, if you have any questions about sailing, offshore cruising, or even starting a life aboard, I'm more than happy to share my experience and knowledge.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to connect and share. ⛵💙
Much love,
James
P.S. if you know someone whose insights would shine a light on this topic, please feel free to share this post with them. 😉

Happy Thanksgiving!! I've got some big news, that I'm very thankful for. 😁
Counting the Navy, I've been living on boats now for 18 years. In that time I've sailed somewhere around 60,000 miles, crossed the Atlantic and Pacific multiple times, and checked quite a few items off the bucket list... Today we are announcing our new plans:
We are going to circumnavigate South America. Galapagos, Easter Island, Patagonia, Cape Horn, Antarctica, Falkland Islands, Brazil, Surinam, Barbados, Bermuda, and the USA.
Just the planning phase has been daunting, definitely pushing me out of my comfort zone. We're also offering 3 bunks for sale, which brings it's own crazy set of complications (it's basically another business).
This is the culmination of nearly seven months of work and planning, the new business is launched, the schedule is set, now we are headed to Panama to make some money so we can pay for the needed upgrades to the boat (heater, insulated life raft, cold water immersion suits, new rigging, etc). The list is extensive, but we've got some time...
Very thankful to have this opportunity. Just wanted to share it with you. Have a great Thanksgiving. Eat some Turkey for me! We're leaving today for a 3 day passage to San Blas, Panama.
Much love!

We're already back on our boat after this crossing, so we are running a bit behind still (but trying to catch up!!
Much love, stay tuned for some big news! We're planning some COOL stuff.

Had the pleasure of interviewing a sailing legend
I finally got a chance to meet John Kretchmer's in Bermuda. What a guy! He is one of the coolest, most humble cruisers I've ever met.
Turns out he's as strong as a baby gorilla as well. He promptly beat me at arm wrestling...

Freedom. Serenity. Tranquility.
These are the words i use to describe offshore passage making.
Freedom from the telephone. The internet. The incessant spam mail. The incessant need to grab my phone if there's even .5 seconds of my life when I'm not being distracted enough.
Serenity that comes from letting go of my worries and cares for a few days and diving into a new book (or revisiting an old one). Serenity that comes from the sound of the wind in the sails, the boat through the water, and NOTHING else. For days.
Tranquility that comes with being a master of this earth's oceans, knowing how harsh and beautiful they can be, and accepting what comes. It's different everyday. Only one thing is certain: it will change soon...
You've got to try this rum
All the best things come from Colombia...
Rum made with the first pressing of sugar cane, which uses pure water from a high-altitude spring, 2,200 meters, and matures for 15 years in American oak barrels from Colombia!

Between Two Sheets is an homage to Zach Galifianakis' 'Between Two Ferns'. On a sailboat, the sails are sometimes called "sheets" and as my studio is directly in between both sails.... I thought the name was fitting.
