It is with bittersweet emotion that we release to you the final Voc/zes episode of 2019!

This week, the Voc/zes team as you know it says adios/tchau! As we wrap up three seasons of podcasting, Steph and Liz reflect on what Voc/zes has been for them as they highlight some of their favorite moments and opportunities over the years--from meeting interesting Spanish and Portuguese speakers from around the world to attending podcast conferences, to getting to know the U of M campus even better.

Later in the podcast, Liz sits down for a final interview with special guest, Francisco Estévez Valencia, Director del Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos in Santiago, Chile. In the interview, Francisco talks about the museum and its permanent collection, the history of Chile--from dictatorship back to democracy--and the importance of remembering the past to better the present and the future.

Thank you so much for your support and joining us for the ride. Now, enjoy Episode 59 of Voc/zes!

Francisco Cantú, our special guest on this week's pod, wrote an award-winning book about life at/after the border.

"'A beautiful, fiercely honest, and nevertheless deeply empathetic look at those who police the border and the migrants who risk – and lose — their lives crossing it. In a time of often ill-informed or downright deceitful political rhetoric, this book is an invaluable corrective.' —Phil Klay, author of Redeployment"
