Kristina and I have been together for 15 years and this is the first sofa we’ve brought into our home (together) in that whole time! When we first met, Kristina already owned a chocolate brown velvet sofa from Habitat and we had it for the entire time (and it’s still in our London place that we rent out- it never lost its shape!). Now in our little beach cottage we needed to brighten things up a bit to fit the coastal vibe and we now have our new *Dawson sofa from . It’s HUGE (3.2m wide) We only live in a two-bed garden apartment and this sofa spans the whole length of the wall making the small room feel so much bigger because it’s stretched to fit the space.

Never in my dreams did I think we’d choose a cream sofa (with two small kids!) but all the covers come off to wash them easily. And the Dawson has this fab shelf around the back to put your art all around..and your cuppa! (Scroll across) it’s also the first sofa that all four of us can sit and watch a film together on. Bliss!

(Part of me wanted retouch out the air con unit out of the mirror, but…it’s real life, innit?)

*the sofa was kindly gifted as part of a collaboration with ⭐️

I have never been a girly-girl, so how my instagram feed has ended up being so pink and red and soft and pretty is something I never expected! We all evolve over the years, right? I’m definitely in my pink phase, and I’m happy here! 🌸♥️

My lovely cabinet that I picked up for £10 almost 15 years ago at a house clearance shop on Brixton Hill! It’s travelled everywhere with us and lived in every room of our homes throughout the years. It’s now perfectly placed in our ‘beach cottage’ wall in the sitting room above the sofa- full of treasures. I don’t even think I ever painted it- just gave it a good clean and gave it a new handle!

I have been sitting here going through some of my archive styling work and I’ve always loved this one. The colours, the light, the pattern are all so beautiful together. It was 10 years ago but the colour palette is also very current! Thank you for capturing this one so beautifully and for the commission!

I spent Saturday night playing around with the right colour for our dining room wall (par-tay!) We live in an apartment so you see this wall from every aspect. I had four or five half used tins of paint left over from shoots - and I’ve never really mixed my own colour before. But this is the dream colour! I used Porters paint Russett and Donkey Grey and a splash of Annie Sloan Cotswold Green. And this is the result! A gorgeous dusky pink, quite like Farrow and Ball Sulking Room pink. So pleased! It feels like a warm hug. And our bright and lively painting ‘Flying Fisherman’ by is perfect on this wall as the pinks tie in so well. Love!

Here’s a new image I styled for this month (November issue) for the B&W check trend! I used Cadet blue paint from on the walls to offset the B&W (pure monochrome can be too much sometimes)

How divine is this bedhead from ? And the 3D printed vase from which I just love 🐚

Oh, wicker! You never go out of style! I styled this beautiful shoot on location at the home of a couple of months ago. It’s out now in the November issue of mag.

I am so lucky in my job that I have been allowed inside hundreds upon hundreds of amazing homes, but there are very few that I feel I could live in, happily, with all the owners stuff. But this home is just breathtaking. Breathtaking, I tell you! The right amount of fabulous and cosy and full of love.

For this shoot I curated a look of furniture and accessories, brought it in, shot it in the space and shipped it back out again. But lots of Alexandra’s things made it in the shoot too because they were too perfect ❤️

Morning all! In the latest issue of (November issue) I was lucky enough to style four shoots! (I normally style one per issue)

I loved creating four very different looks for our ‘Style Forecast’ which looks at the year ahead.

This trend is ‘Renaissance Red’ (btw how do YOU pronounce the word Renaissance? The jury is out.

Dark backgrounds/walls are easy to live with in the home if you keep the furniture and accessories light and bright!

I am so happy to be part of the shoot family ❤️. I was lucky enough to style and art direct this shoot a few months ago showcasing the latest Utzon collection of furniture. (Utzon as in Jorn who designed the Sydney Opera House!)

Jorn’s daughter Lin and grandson Mika collaborated with the eco team to create a gorgeous 8-piece outdoor furniture collection. Here is a snippet of what we shot- there are many more images from a few days together!

“Introducing the Utzon(s) collection.
Based on a private sofa designed by Sydney Opera House architect Jorn Utzon, for his Can Feliz family home, this first to market outdoor furniture collection is a celebration of enduring design and family legacy. Meticulously crafted in collaboration with daughter Lin Utzon and grandson Mika Utzon Popov, the eight-piece collection combines timeless materiality, clear shapes and architecturally inspired details.”

I took this photo in our apartment yesterday when the early Sunday morning light was so pretty. My friend refers to our apartment as our ‘beach cottage’ and I think it’s a great way to describe it. We’ve moved into a tiny 2-bed while we figure out our lives! It’s small but perfectly formed and we can walk to the beach in 30 minutes (or drive in a just a few minutes). The boys are still small enough to share a room and they love it! I’d love to talk to more people who have made the choice to move into a small place in mid-life (ours is because right now we want to live by the ocean and this is what our finances afford us). But I think we see so many (wonderful) social media accounts from people with large homes- I’d love if you would tag some accounts by people with small homes/apartments below! ❤️ for me, if I live in a home that is styled beautifully- it doesn’t really bother me if it’s big or small!

Hello! It’s me, your interior styling teacher and mentor! I even have a couple of students who call me their styling god mother 😂(which I love).

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a stylist or simply want to learn how to style your own home then check out my online courses.

In the last couple of weeks I’ve also taken on a mentorship with two talented people who want me to help them in their styling journey. They want to be kept accountable to their goals, to be kept on track and for me to offer guidance. One is monthly and one is fortnightly. I can be that for you too!

Next time you go to style your home think ‘WWLD’ what would Lucy do? And get in touch. ❤️❤️

Not quite sure how I didn’t post about this last month, but this house that we featured in is one of my favourite houses that I’ve ever stepped into!

The home is owned by Chloe Brookman who is the powerhouse behind the brand . Chloe and her husband Charlie turned a funny old duplex into this incredible family home for their family of 7! Every piece was sourced from Facebook marketplace and various antique stores from around the globe. The floor pattern that you see in the first image was designed and laid by Charlie using a stencil and various wood stains! The whole ground floor was created like this! Mind blowing. So creative.

Chloe wanted to create a ‘real life doll’s house’ and the outcome is just that!

Thanks for having me, Chloe! 🌸🌸

Feel so proud to have worked on this feature with the inimitable - artist, florist and doctor of philosophy, for the current issue of magazine.

Lisa’s incredible unwavering vision is the reason her work is loved by people around the globe and can be found in The Mint in Sydney and fashion houses of Paris and everywhere in between. The floral arrangements set against the backdrop of wall + furniture paint is the perfect pairing!

Ok, we NEED to talk about this! I didn’t wake up today planning to post this but I scrolled this afternoon, watched a few things and realised that no one (that I’m aware of) in our industry is really tackling the impending AI implosion that is lurking around the corner. It’s real, people!!

We are a few company decisions away from an ENTIRE industry being done away with. Every image in this post was created using my brain, my hands and my heart, and the same passion of about 20 other people. Photographers, set builders, assistants, locations, agents, models and the list goes on (swipe for a list of the kinds of creatives involved). Jobs that we have trained for decades to do.

When it comes to commercial and editorial work it is imperative that we keep creativity in the hands of humans or we are DONE.

I am asking high street stores, department stores, magazines, newspapers, shops, businesses and designers to share this image and pledge not to use AI software to create catalogues, lookbooks, photo shoots, magazine features and creative imagery for their businesses that would replace human creatives.

Luckily, this hasn’t happened to me with any of my clients yet- they all believe in the power of human creativity.

I don’t know if people will agree with this or not and I am happy to open up a discussion here but I passionately feel that we need to protect our incredible interiors/food and fashion industries by spreading the word, speaking to business owners, talking to clients and being an advocate for ourselves and our amazing creative network.

Please like and share this post if it resonates with you!
