Grateful for every person, every pour, and every quiet moment shared at the Loft over the past couple of years.

These gatherings have taught me so much — not only about tea, but about intention, collaboration, and the beauty of slowing down together.

Thank you to the incredible OWIU team for opening your space and assisting me in every way possible, to Yasuko for crafting the most exquisite wagashi, and to everyone who joined, returned, and supported this journey.

Each session deepened my practice and strengthened my vision — to build a community of Tea That Connects.

In the new year, I hope to continue creating spaces where tea brings people, culture, and kindness together.

In Japan, autumn is called 食欲の秋 (Shokuyoku no aki)— the season of appetite.
A time when harvests are abundant and flavors are at their richest: yuzu, mushrooms, chestnuts, sweet potatoes.

This October, we bring that spirit to Los Angeles in an intimate tea pop-up. Rare Japanese teas paired with California’s fall harvest, guided with intention and served in small gatherings.

Collaborating with Toru-san ( ) of was a meeting of shared values—where simplicity, intention, and design come together. His iconic tofu scoop, adorned with a chrysanthemum pattern, was created to let something as humble as tofu shine. Beauty, not through extravagance, but through thoughtful detail.

The same philosophy flows into his perfectly balanced tea infuser—a circular form so precise, it makes brewing loose-leaf tea at home feel effortless. Not only beautiful to hold, but it transforms the act of tea-making into something accessible, calm, and deeply satisfying.

This is what true Japanese culture means to us—not flashy ingredients or name-dropping, but care, craft, and the everyday moments that nourish both body and spirit.

Thank you Toru-san and everyone who attended. (And those who wanted to come)

Our next tea pop-ups are just around the corner—new dates are now up on Tock. Hope to see you again soon. 🍵

As an immigrant, I’ve been feeling heavy about what’s happening in Los Angeles lately.

When I first came to the U.S. in the ’90s, I dreamed of the kind of America I saw on screen—kind, open, and welcoming. That ideal still lives somewhere in me.

At the same time, I feel deeply grateful for what this place continues to offer. Where else could I share Japanese tea and fermentation in a modern way, and find people genuinely curious and respectful of the culture I bring?

Lately, I’ve been leaning into simple, fermented meals—miso, amazake, pickles, multigrain rice. A friend in Japan shared how these foods help clear his mind, and I’ve been feeling that too.

As much as I want to keep my youthful glow 😘, I want to keep my mind sharp—especially now, when the world feels so loud.

Staying centered, nourished, and connected. That’s what I’m holding onto.

In Singapore, my first international tea pairing experience, I collaborated with renowned pastry chef and ceramic launch of ! Taking on the challenge of pairing high-quality Japanese teas with for a menu I had never tasted, for a chef I had never met. Each tea played a supporting role, enhancing and elevating the chef’s culinary vision without overpowering it, showcasing the subtle versatility of Japanese tea beyond tradition. A truly one-of-a-kind experience, bridging cultures and redefining boundaries in the art of pairing.

Thank you, Amanda and Joel, for always believing in me more than I do and giving me the opportunity to grow! Looking forward to creating more beautiful harmony through tea pairings around the world.

There’s a special joy in making tea for friends and guests, and I feel truly honored every time I get to share that experience. But there’s also something deeply fulfilling about taking a moment to make tea just for yourself. In the midst of our busy lives, remember to pause, breathe, and reflect. Treat yourself to the simple ritual of making a good cup of tea.

Let’s have tea with ourselves.
