This spring we welcome two new members to the team. Lisa K.  Buchanan joins Creative Nonfiction as a guest reader. You might remember her Fall 2023 publication with Citron, “How I Lose Him.” You can also find her writings in Bending Genres, The Brevity Blog, The Ekphrastic Review, and New Ohio Review. In 2023 her work was awarded a Notable in Best American Essays, and in 2022 she was awarded First Place in CRAFT’s Short Fiction Prize.

Joining as a guest reader in Poetry, Gigi Guizado is an actor, writer, and theatre translator. Her micro-plays have had productions or staged readings in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and London. Her poetry has been nominated for Best of the Net and published in The Emerson Review, Rogue Agent Journal, Salamander Ink Magazine, The Bluebird Word, among others. Her translations have been published in Another Chicago Magazine, Asymptote Journal, The Mercurian, and featured on Performing International Plays.

We are thrilled to announce that Carolyn Abram will be our Flash Fiction Guest Editor for the Winter Issue!

Carolyn is a writer, teacher, and editor based out of Seattle. Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, including The Under Review, Scary Mommy, Lit-Sea, Bellevue Literary Review, Lilith, and McSweeney's Internet Tendency. She is also the author of eight editions of Facebook for Dummies. She currently teaches classes at Seattle’s Hugo House and is searching for representation for her novel. Please join us in welcoming Liz Galvez as our new Assistant Editor & Reader!

Liz Galvez travels between dimensions and resurrects her memories to write poetry about it. She earned a BA in English and a minor in Creative Writing with an emphasis in poetry from Nevada State in 2023. Liz is honored to be the 2022 recipient of the John Oliver Simon Award and received 1st place at Nevada State’s URCW Creative Works panel in 2018 and 2022. Her poem “Dissecting Arnold Palmer,” was featured on the Double Down Blog. She has combined her passions for music and poetry in her spoken word project, I Must Confess, available now at isthisliz.bandcamp.com.

This special issue will be published in early 2023.
