Don Jaime Partagás created the Partagás brand in Cuba in 1845. Today, the Cuban brand boasts a large portfolio, including the Partagás Short. As the oldest cigarmaker in the Dominican Republic, La Aurora is still influenced by their extensive history in the cigar industry. The La Aurora 1903 Cameroon line, released in 2017 as part of the Dominican company's Time Capsule series, honors the year that La Aurora first started blending cigars with Cameroon wrapper (the same year the company was founded). The Cameroon leaf covers Ecuadoran Sumatra binder with filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The Churchill is our Cigar of the Week, a 7 inches long by 47 ring gauge smoke that was recently rated 92 points in a Cigar Aficionado blind tasting.
H. Upmann’s Magnum series features some of the thickest ring gauge cigars in the Habanos portfolio. The H. Upmann Magnum 56 leads the way, measuring 5 7/8 inches long by 56 ring gauge. The smoke delivers ample notes of toasted wheat with an underlying nuttiness, accented by hints of creamy vanilla, graham cracker and cinnamon. The Magnum 56 scored 92 points in a recent Cigar Aficionado blind tasting.
Ashton expanded the La Aroma de Cuba series last year with La Aroma de Cuba Noblesse. Noblesse was first released in 2014, but it was commercially unavailable for years before Ashton revamped the line last year. The comeback included updated packaging and a new blend altogether. The Viceroy particularly stands out among the four-size regular production lines. The 6 1/4 by 52 box-pressed torpedo was recently given a score of 92 points in a Cigar Aficionado blind tasting. At 4 1/2 inches long by 41 ring gauge, the Petit Corona from the Dominican Republic hits above its weight class. Despite its diminutive stature, the cigar delivers a full-bodied smoke with notes of leather, coffee bean, spice and a hint of sweetness. See more:

Translating to “days of glory,” the original Días de Gloria brand was created by A.J. Fernandez to honor the Cuban cigars of the pre-Castro era. This year, the cigarmaker expanded the series with a new line called Días de Gloria Brazil, which features a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper over an all-Nicaraguan blend. The thick Gordo stands out among the five, box-pressed vitolas in the line. Measuring 6 1/2 inches long by 60 ring gauge the Gordo recently earned a score of 92 points in a Cigar Aficionado blind tasting.
