News & Review Newsstand Art Project The News & Review Art Box Project

The News & Review Art Box Project is the largest, most widely distributed, collaborative public art project in Northern California and Northern Nevada history. With our “Art Box” campaign, in which we donate our newsracks and materials to local artists to create one-of-a-kind, utilitarian works of art, we wish to improve our cities and region with a higher art profile and stuff that's fun to look at.

Have you seen this RN&R newsstand? Created by local Artist Candace Nicole, it has graced the sidewalk at the intersection of Virginia and 1st Streets in Downtown Reno. It's missing!

The City of Reno's Public Works Department has installed a blue/gray "bank" of news boxes in the same spot. The "banked" equipment is owned, in part, by the Reno Gazette-Journal; the City of Reno has paid to refurbish it, along with others, as part of its news rack project.

Could someone from the RGJ or the City of Reno have taken this wonderful piece of Art, to replace it with something of their own?

We're checking with the City to see if they have it. If you have any info on its whereabouts, please contact the RN&R at 775-324-4440, ext. 3515. Thank you!

A big "thank you" to Bella Vista High School - they just returned 8 art newsstands!! We will process them by taking their photos and then get them out on the streets. Many thanks, Bella Vista!
