“Surfacing out of nowhere in 1996, Black Dots turned out to be an archival release of the best kind, something truly rare and unheard that also captured a band at its best. The liner notes explain the origins of the release: In 1979, fellow DC locals the Slickee Boys heard an even earlier rehearsal tape from the Brains and suggested hooking up with now-legendary DC producer Don Zientara, who had recently opened his Inner Ear Studios in his house. The group duly booked time, set up in the fledging venue and put on a commanding performance. Nearly all the legendary early hits are here, including “Pay to Cum,” “Don’t Need It,” “Regulator,” “Banned in D.C.,” “How Low Can a Punk Get?” and “Attitude,” while a number of otherwise unheard or never-recorded elsewhere numbers make Black Dots easily the equal of the ROIR cassette. Some of the changes and quirks are really fun — H.R.‘s mock-cockney sneer throughout a number of songs is one of the last things probably anybody expected to hear. Aside from “new” oldie “The Man Won’t Annoy Ya,” the reggae side of the band went largely by the boards this time around, aside from the reedy inflections HR throws in from time to time. Instead it’s all monster-rock power — Dr. Know plays like a man possessed, Darryl Aaron Jenifer does it low and loud, while Earl Hudson overcomes for the slightly hollow drum sound with sheer manic smashes and just enough control. Absolutely necessary for Brains fans or anyone who appreciates the power of live, loud electric music.”

"Contained herein is genuine 'lost' treasure of original and authentic American Punk/No Wave circa 1979-81 that now in 2017, nearly 40 years after the recordings were made, a whole generation later, you only just deserve to hear. The Sickness are 'year zero' for a lineage of notorious bands who followed namely The Groinoids. Kilslug and Upsidedown Cross, all now infamous in their own right, for many of the wrong reasons, but now it's time for the band where it all started, who in it's own unassuming way could possibly be the most important of all, to be overlooked no longer and finally get the credit it so rightfully deserves.

Every badly strummed out-of-tune guitar chord, every missed snare hit, when they all go out of time with eachother and the whole thing so nearly falls apart completely ... You just can't fake it - This is the real deal ... Add the seriously unhinged vibe dripping off every second of these recordings, the raw 'lo-fi' sound being another seal of authenticity, the peculiar lyrics delivered by a unique whiney drawl of a voice you either love or loathe which once absorbed will always be instantly recognisable. If music reflects the personality of it's creator/s, it's no surprise the creators of these fantastic dirges were known as the local "drug taking weirdos" and often shunned as social lepers, thus providing the fertile ground on which The Sickness would spew. HEPTAMERON "grand master of the final harvest" LP (LIFE ETERNAL/ Zombi Danz)

Another Hellenic cult wrought of the 21st century, HEPTAMERON takes a distinctly grimy and thrash-influenced approach to the black metal genre. In fact, were it not for the spacious, reverb laden rasp of the guitarist/vocalist 'Kleanthis Necrofiend', it might not assimilate into that genre entirely, but parallels are neatly drawn to the brute 80s sounds of POSSESSED, CELTIC FROST, BATHORY, KREATOR, S***M and SLAYER, with a sliver of a younger SAMAEL.

INCITATUS "demo 1994" LP (ROTTING MISERY)

Norway 1994, the first demo from INCITATUS sees the light of day and overflows the listeners with a sick mix of black metal and doom. A year later the changed their name to SVARTSYN to release "Aandens Melankoli" which shares one track with this demo. Now the INCITATUS demo has been rereleased and is available on vinyl fort he first time. The music has been mastered from the original tape by Patrick Engel from Temple of Disharmony.
Few things can beat the feeling of digging up an obscure, forgotten Norwegian black metal-demo from the golden age of the early 90’s. When you’ve spun all the classics to death and you’re tired of bitching about the veterans that are working on way past their prime, you just want to find something you haven’t heard. Something that can take you back to the dramatic heydays of the early 90’s. Now, this is one such release. You can seriously the taste of 1994 just by listening to this.
