On Monday, Vice President Harris made her first official campaign appearance, walking out to Beyoncé’s song “Freedom" featuring Kendrick Lamar. The vice president received permission from Beyoncé to use her song throughout her presidential campaign.

The calls organized by the coalition groups Win with Black Women and Win with Black Men ignited excitement and millions of dollars raised for Kamala Harris.

On Sunday night, Win with Black Women, a coalition of Black leaders nationwide, hosted an improv virtual conference call, that resulted in 44,000 participants. In just three hours, over $1.5 million was raised for Harris's campaign.

Organized by Win with Black Women founder Jotaka Eaddy the call was a testament to when Black women come together for a greater cause.

"It really is the culmination of so many Black women for years and years and years that have been working, cultivating and creating for this moment," Eaddy told the Washington Post. "And last night was also a homage, a work to them and their sacrifice.”

On Monday night, Win with Black Men followed up with their conference call, raising over $1.3 million in support of Harris within 4 hours.

President Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms, according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

The president was scheduled to speak at the UnidosUS conference in Las Vegas. He first tested positive for Covid-19 in July 2022.

CNN reports the president has received his first dose of the antiviral drug Paxlovid and will be self-isolating at his home in Delaware.

Model and influencer Amber Rose is being slammed for supporting Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention. Rose spoke at the convention on Monday, saying she believes the media lied about Trump.

"I believed the left-wing propaganda that Donald Trump was a racist," Rose said. “I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay or straight. It’s all love. And that’s when it hit me: These are my people. This is where I belong."

The Biden-Harris campaign’s senior spokesperson Sarafina Chitika made the following comments about Rose:

“Amber Rose is right about one thing: research is important. Since we’re talking about facts, we brought receipts: Rose said American families were better off when Trump was president – and if she’s talking about his billionaire donors, she’s right,” Chitika tells me in a statement. “But for Black communities, it’s the opposite story: Black unemployment, Black uninsured rates, and crime rates skyrocketed under Trump’s leadership, because the truth is simple – Donald Trump doesn’t care about us, our lives, or our livelihoods.”

She concluded, “A vote for Donald Trump is a vote to line the pockets of millionaires like Rose at the expense of actual Black communities, and those are the facts.”

Rose has also received backlash from journalist Joy Ann Reid who says she is using her using her racial ambiguity to benefit from Black culture, even though the model does not consider herself a Black woman.

"“It’s ironic that they were able to recruit this young woman — she’s of racially ambiguous, I don’t want to say she’s Black because she has said she’s not. So, I don’t want to say ‘This Black woman," says Reid. "This woman who is of whatever race she has claimed…they brought someone whose whole career is based in Black culture."

Rose responded to Reid's comments on X saying, "“Hi I’ve never said I wasn’t black I said I identify as biracial. I’m not going to invalid my white father to make you feel more comfortable. Stop being a race baiter ur president does enough race baiting for all of us."

Talk about centennial magic! B-CU graduate Magnolia Jackson recently celebrated her 106th birthday at Walt Disney World. It was the first time she visited the most magical place on earth.

Jackson's actual birthday is Thursday (March 14). She attended the Florida Classic college football game in Orlando last fall and saw Mickey Mouse perform on the field in his drum major outfit, which fueled her love for Disney.

Jackson is the oldest living graduate of Bethune-Cookman University.
