Revelstoke Winter Carnival begins tomorrow! What a journey this has been. Thank you so much to all those coming in from out of town to support production and to all those in town who have seen and felt the value and who've given financially and energetically to support the revival of this event.

This is a Revelstoke celebration. A joining of young and old and an opportunity for us all to come together. We hope you make it down for the Opening Ceremony, tomorrow at 4p. We'll have Mayor Gary Sulz opening with a speech followed by the Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke hosting an interactive and educational experience, cookies by Flourish Bakery and a very special surprise by the City of Revelstoke, BC.

Here is an updated Schedule of Events we've added lots of great FEE activities and loads of new musical experiences.

Today, I had the great pleasure to learn about Revelstoke Winter Carnivals and Festivals of the past with Cathy English at the Revelstoke Museum & Archives. One thing that has always stuck out and continues to inspire is how many people and business owners got involved to create something so special. It truly does take a village. This year, we’re weaving the rich tapestry of past carnivals and snowfests with the vibrant experiences of 2024. My mantra remains unchanged: Celebrating community, unity, and the joy of coming together. 🤝

This historic event began in 1915, and the entire community got involved. We can’t wait to share in this magical experience with you! All activities benefit a participating non-profit.

SUNDAY! Music Movement Mantra | Community Class. By Donation and/or nonperishable items for the Food Bank ❤️ Join Lisa Cyr and myself for this participatory and experiential community offering. This class explores the power of movement while infused with mantra and sound – what is called Nāda Yoga. You can expect a short discussion on Māntra and its benefits, the practice of Surya Namaskar (Salutations to the Sun) with collective chanting of Bija mantras, followed by solar-infused movement. Then we’ll ground down with the collective chanting of Mantra and OM as a form of meditation, pranayama (breathing exercise) and Nāda Yoga. The Alchemy Studio Revelstoke

ABOUT MANTRA & BIJA
manas = mind / tra = to control or harness
Mantras are a combination of powerful vibrational sounds which are designed to produce a specific effect on the mind and its functioning. Mantras can be spoken aloud, whispered, or repeated mentally – which is said to be the superior method. Mantras are formulated from letters of the Sanskrit alphabet, each letter having its own particular vibrational frequency and corresponding effect on the consciousness. When a sound is mentally repeated with awareness and concentration, the thought takes on the form of that sound, it becomes that sound.

SANSKRIT: pure, perfect, well-made, refined
Said to be a reveal language; that is, the original sound of OM. A language of resonance and has significant energetic potential in our yoga practice. When we chant a mantra (a sacred sound formula), or a Sanskrit prayer it creates a vibrational field. This field has resonates and has an effect on our internal energies.
SANSKRIT AND OM: all the sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet are said to the “born” from the sound of OM, the primordial sound of creation.

ABOUT THE SUN SALUTATIONS
Surya Namaskar (salutations to the sun) is composed of the three elements of form, energy and rhythm. The twelve postures create the physical matrix around which the form of the practice is woven. The postures generate prana, the subtle energy which activates our physical body. The postures within the sun salutations sequence is a performance in rhythm and reflect the rhythm of the universe, the 24 hours within the day, the zodiac phases of the year and the bio-rhythms of the body.
