I shot this incredibly dark and crowded once in a lifetime event. This past summer I invested heavily in off camera strobe. I had hoped to bounce light off the ceiling, but they were high and painted black. I’m glad I figured out some solutions on the fly. I love being a photographer!

My first, and to date only, time shooting volleyball happened a couple months ago. My eye for what’s exciting was shaped by decades as a lover of sports in general. Volleyball is a notoriously difficult sport to shoot. Thanks to JMU for letting me have the experience.

There are some photos I remember more than others. This one immediately came to mind this week. These two grew up together on the island of Puerto Rico and have remained the best of friends. Both are extremely successful in their chosen fields and go out of their way to give back to others!

From a single photo shoot we were able to deliver a variety of graphics depicting Ben’s matriculation from high school to college. He will now have the sports media department at college to continue his collection of graphics showcasing the next part of his journey.

Sometimes doing portraits in natural light is superior to using strobe. In this case, the shadows are not distracting as they are significantly less than those in the background.
