Talk Hockey Radio - Est.2006 | A Legacy of Peter Savage | Find us on most popular socials | Thank you for your support We just wanted to share his message with you all because we feel it's a fitting thing for without him Taff Ahmed would not have had the privilege of keeping it going, with his blessing of course. Hi
If you’re reading this it’s prob
ably because you share my passion for hockey. I’ve been involved in it for most of my working life, as a player, umpire, technical official and administrator, and now as a journalist/photographer. Over that time my love of the game never seems to diminish. I started TalkHockeyRadio back in 2006 after having written for the old Hockey Sport magazine for ten years. Podcasting was just starting to take off and I seized the opportunity to launch hockey’s first podcast, using some the experience I had gained free-lancing in local radio. A few months after we started podcasting, I was persuaded by some fellow hockey journalists to launch an on-line magazine, which is how HockeyTalk was born. We also started our News Blog, which enables us to report on hockey from almost anywhere in the world. Our latest edition to our activities is the HockeyImages.co.uk web site. This was launched in June 2009 and right from the start we have embedded it into the TalkHockeyRadio site so that visitors can enjoy the photographs without having to navigate back to the site afterwards. There are currently over 1000 hockey images on the site and that number is rising fast. Nearly all the photographs on this web site are mine, although I am extremely grateful to my colleagues Ady Kerry, Frank Uijlenbroek (Netherlands), Daniel Carson (Australia) and others for helping me out where there are gaps in my catalogue of images. I am also grateful to all the other people who freely give me their services so that I can run TalkHockeyRadio on a very tight budget. Some of their names can be found elsewhere on this page. We have received a number of offers of sponsorship for the site over the last three years but it has always been my policy to stick with companies whose products and services I am confident to be associated with. It is for that reason that I am delighted to have our current sponsors, Mercian, supporting us. Not only do they produce a great range of products but they are ‘hockey people’ through and through. The purpose of TalkHockeyRadio is to promote hockey in England. Not only is a a great sport but it promotes tremendous values at a time when the general public are becoming increasingly cynical about ethics in sport. I believe that not only is it a great sport to play, and play with great passion at that, but it engenders values which are good life tools. I do hope you enjoy the site. It’s contents come from lovers of hockey especially for lovers of hockey.
