🎛️ Top 10 Recording Tips for Artists Heading Into the Studio

1. Know Your Songs Inside and Out
Rehearse more than you think you need to. Time spent fumbling through arrangements or forgetting lyrics burns money and kills momentum. Come in tight, not guessing.

2. Have a Vision, But Stay Open
Know the vibe you're going for — tones, references, mood — but be flexible. Magic often happens in the moment. Be open to collaboration with your producer, engineer, or bandmates. You hired pros for a reason — let them do their jobs.

3. Dial in Your Tone Beforehand
Whether it’s vocals, guitar, bass, or drums — show up with your sound already dialed in. Don’t expect the studio to "fix it" later.

4. Warm Up — Like, Actually
Whatever your instrument is — voice, hands, wrists, ears — get it limber before the red light goes on. Cold takes = wasted takes.

5. Don’t Chase Perfection
The best performances often have a little grit. If it feels good, don’t overthink it. Raw energy always wins over sterile precision.

6. Communicate with Your Engineer
Speak up. If something doesn’t sound right in your headphones, say so early. If you don’t understand a direction, ask. You’re a team, not a passenger.

7. Layer Smart, Not Just More
Don’t stack tracks just for the sake of it. Every part should have a purpose. Mindless layering just muddies the mix.

8. Triple Check Your Gear
New strings. Fresh batteries. No scratchy pots or dead frets. Bring backup picks, cables, power supplies — whatever you need. Get your instrument professionally set up beforehand if you can.

9. Stay in Tune — Constantly
Check your tuning before every single take. Even slight drifts will stack up in the mix and become a nightmare later.

10. Prepare for the Day!
Bring what you need: food, coffee, water, smokes — whatever keeps you dialed in. Some sessions run long. Don’t be the one killing momentum by leaving mid-session to grab lunch. Show up on time, ready to go.

🎤 Top 10 Stage Tips Every Artist Should Know
🔥 Level up your live show with these tried-and-true essentials from

1.) Check Your Tuning — Twice
Don’t assume your guitar/bass/drums are still in tune from soundcheck. Temp, humidity, and adrenaline mess with tuning. Double-check before that first note hit. Being in tune is the EASIEST way to sound better!

2.) Soundcheck = Strategy
Don’t just line-check. Use soundcheck time to get used to the room, dial in monitors, walk the stage layout, and make sure your water, picks, capos, slides, drumsticks, and any other accessories you may need for the show are good to go...

3.) Be Mindful of Lighting
Learn how to work with stage lights — not against them. Avoid standing in the dark zones or places you will be blinded, don’t block your bandmates' spotlight, and if you’re the frontperson, find the light when it matters.

4.) Start off with a bang!
That first note? It’s everything. Come out swinging with something that grabs people right away. Don’t ease into the set with a slow build or drawn-out intro — hit 'em with a track that says “this is what we’re about.” Make it count.

5.) Engage the Crowd Early
Say something to the audience within the first 30 seconds. Make a connection — don’t wait until song four.

6.) Watch Your Backline
Keep your cables clean, pedals taped down, and gear tight. A messy stage = distractions and trip hazards.

7.) Have a Contingency Plan For Every Situation
Broken string? Cable dies? Mic cuts? Stay cool, keep playing, and make it look intentional if you have to.

8.) Body Language Matters
Confidence sells. Even if the crowd is cold, you don’t get to be. Look like you belong up there — because you do. Make your moves, energy, and expressions big enough for the folks in the back to feel it. Stage presence should scale to the venue. Five people or 500 — give the same energy. The smallest crowd could have your biggest fan, a booker, or someone who’ll change your career.

9.) Leave Space for Moments
Don’t rush between songs. Let things breathe. Talk, pause, let the crowd respond. Silence can be powerful.

10.) Finish Strong and Say Thanks
Nail the ending, thank the venue, shout out the other bands, and give people a reason to remember you.

🎤 10 Pro Tips for Booking More (and Better) Gigs 🎸

If you're an independent artist or band trying to land more shows — and better ones — you know how tough the grind can be. But booking doesn’t have to be a mystery. Here are 10 practical, battle-tested tips from LegionHQ to help you level up your booking game:

1.) Build a Solid EPK (Electronic Press Kit)
Your EPK should include a short bio, hi-res photos, live video, social media links, stage-plot, and contact info. Keep it professional, clean, and updated. The easier you can make it on the venue/promoter, the better chances they will want to work with you more in the future.

2.) Know Your Draw
Be honest about how many people you can bring out in each city. Venues will respect your transparency and plan accordingly.

3.) Target the Right Venues
Don’t waste time on clubs that don’t fit your genre or draw. Focus on spots where your sound makes sense and you have a chance to stand out.

4.) Leverage Local Support Acts
Partner with local bands to boost turnout. Promoters love seeing cooperative lineups that bring in combined audiences.

5.) Be Professional in Every Email
Booking agents and talent buyers get dozens of emails a day. A short, polite message with a clear ask gets noticed. Make sure your information is accurate/updated, and your links are working to avoid wasting their time having to track this info down.

6.) Follow Up Without Being Annoying
One follow-up a week later is fair game. If there’s no reply after two tries, move on — and stay on good terms.

7.) Use a Calendar (and Stick to It)
Keep a tight handle on your routing, blackout dates, and promo timelines. Disorganized artists don’t get second chances.

8.) Visit the Venue in Person
If it’s local, show up. Shake hands, catch a show, introduce yourself. Face-to-face contact builds trust fast, and can sometimes sneak you past the dozens of e-mails from other bands the venue/promoter is currently sitting on.

9.) Play to Build, Not Just to Be Seen
Every gig should help you grow: build your fanbase, connect with other bands, or get better video/photos for your EPK.

10.) Say Thanks (And Mean It)
Send a thank-you message after every show — to the venue, sound tech, and support acts. It makes a difference and keeps doors open.
