The first four years of Northallsen Records were a period full of discoveries, wonderful experiences and, in essence, the construction of something that is part of Aleja Sanchez identity as an artist. The following four years have been a period of reflection, introspection and personal search. With a mature sound and concept, Aleja Sanchez invites us to celebrate eight years of learning and transformation through music, on the anniversary of her label Northallsen. The appointment is at Laut, Barcelona.

Lemna is the alias of Japanese composer, producer and sound designer Maiko Okimoto. Maiko tells a story with music, seeking to find out the beautiful ratio to frame the moment of the constantly changing dynamic world on a time axis, while hovering between regularity and irregularity, such as order and chaos, artifact and nature, intellect and emotion, or conscious and subconscious.

Northallsen is pleased to announce the fourth delivery of our Raices Series.

This time, a very diverse release with ample room for creative and sonorous experimentation while diving deep in the exploration and interpretation of our relations with nature through the music. Besides the music, an extract from the book 'Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants' by Robin Wall Kimmerer

'...In the Western tradition there is a recognized hierarchy of beings, with, of course, the human being on top-the pinnacle of evolution, the darling of Creation-and the plants at the bottom. But in Native ways of knowing, human people are often referred to as 'the younger brothers of Creation.' We say that humans have the least experience with how to live and thus the most to learn-we must look to our teachers among the other species for guidance. Their wisdom is apparent in the way that they live. They teach us by example. They've been on the earth far longer than we have been, and have had time to figure things out. They live both above and below ground, joining Skyworld to the earth. Plants know how to make food and medicine from light and water, and then they give it away.

I like to imagine that when Skywoman scattered her handful of seeds across Turtle Island, she was sowing sustenance for the body and also for the mind, emotion, and spirit: she was leaving us teachers. The plants can tell us her story; we need to learn to listen....'

MNMT Label Showcase presents Northallsen Records mixed by Aleja Sanchez.

Northallsen Records is an electronic music label founded in Bogotá, Colombia in 2016 by Aleja Sanchez.

The label's sound embraces the realms of hypnotism and explores the fusion between organic soundscapes, experimental and acoustic elements, with the powerful load of techno music, revealing a sonic narrative that flows between the mysticism of ancestral cultures and the spiritual power of nature.

In order to build the concept, far away from trying to emulate a sound, the label curation is focused on artists with their own identity and particular voice, with a foundation into their musical and artistic proposals. Recent releases have featured the likes of Oscar Mulero, Deepbass, Reggy van Oers, Magna Pia, Polygonia, Tekra, !nertia, Psyk, Laertes, Iori and founder Aleja Sanchez.

The label is intended to keep and highlight the deepness and beauty of techno and electronic music since Northallsen considers music as a tool to help bring harmony and peace in the middle of the tragic war-related situation we all are facing currently around the world.

Aleja Sanchez new mix for the Brooklyn based magazine is now online. The mix is including music recently released on Northallsen Records, some unreleased tracks from herself and other productions from marvellous artists.

The mix comes out with an interview set to be released tomorrow, 9th of February where Aleja had the chance to spend time in a conversation with , discussing about the importance of promoting respect toward music and the responsibility that sound artists hold in the era of wild self promotion and music as an ephemeral entertainment product. I have been reflecting about the dialogue between courage and vulnerability when creating music. The act of creating a piece putting in it the purest essence of the artist is an act of courage. It's to take the risk to expose the most fragile and vulnerable part of us: Our authenticity, our Being-in-the-world through a sound composition. it's to raise the voice and to show yourself without fence or cover, because art is all about genuine authenticity. This is a real act of courage.

It is a pleasure to present the third release of our Raices Series.

This time, Raices is involving the intention to create awareness of our physical environment and the ability to stay connected to it while also recognizing our inner strength and capacity. Tree roots are a symbol of groundedness, as they are an outward manifestation of inner strength.

By learning from trees about how to remain grounded during hard times, we can better access our own inner nourishment so that we may reach new heights spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

Raices serves as a reminder for us to stay rooted in order to remain balanced and grow – even in the face of difficult times or obstacles.
