Lily Faunillan is grateful to Ms Lucille S. Arcedas from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, for her warm welcome and support as she adjusted to her new role with the Columbans as a mission promotion lay animator in the Visayas. Lily met Lucille last year, 2023, during the Columban Mission Partners recollection in San Columbano Retreat Centre at Sitio Batang, Brgy. Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental. Ms Arcedas has always been a steadfast supporter of the Columbans, assisting in many ways. Her commitment was specially evident when Lily asked her to share her mission journey as a Columban Mission Partner. Without hesitation, she wrote a marvelous piece that took Lily's breath away.

By Lucille S. Arcedas I believe my journey as Columban Mission Partner began even before I was born. My parents worked closely with the Columban Fathers; my mother was a catechist, and my father as their driver. Later, they trained in Family Life Ministry, guiding couples to sacramental marriage. Ev...

Myths can sometimes prevent us from seeing the grace of animals. Discover how Gertrudes overcame her fear of bats, transforming her initial prejudice into fascination.

by Gertrudes C. Samson, Columban Lay Missionary   Bat Walk Recently, the Columbans in Solihull organized a Bat Walk. At first, I had second thoughts about attending because of the many horror films I have watched featuring bats. Those scenes had left me with persisting prejudice, and fear immediate...

October 10 is a significant date for the Columban Missionaries' journey. Over a century ago, on this day in 1916, Bishop Edward Galvin received approval from the Irish bishops for a new missionary society, a moment that sowed the seeds of a worldwide mission. Today, Fr. Rex Rocamora finds himself reflecting on this legacy as diverse interfaith groups gather once more in Davao, united by a shared vision for peace.

By Fr. Rex Rocamora, SSC As Executive Secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Interreligious Dialogue (CBCP-ECID), I serve as the focal person for the Mindanao Bishops in revitalizing the Bishops-Ulama Conference, now known as Mindanao Religious Le...

September 1 has emerged as an important Christian celebration of Creation. It goes by various names, such as “World Day of Prayer for Creation” or the shorter versions “Feast of Creation” or “Creation Day”, as frequently called in popular piety.
Yet, despite its growing popularity in both popular piety and ecumenical collaboration, the liturgical calendars and lectionaries of most Western Churches make no reference to this important celebration. Despite the profound theological underpinnings of the Feast of Creation, there is a gap between the liturgical life of our respective churches and the rich ecumenical celebration that brings us together annually on that occasion. Is it time for a new liturgical feast? Listen to our resource persons as they approach this question.
