A funny thing happened on the way to creating Up Close And Acoustic...
Covering why I'm trying to get more bands on, why I'm not a Folk DJ (not that there's anything wrong with that), how I've gotten so many singer/songwriters on, and why I'm trying to steer back toward the initial idea behind the show and its creation. (along with some of the usual rambling and digression)
I was introduced to Langan, Frost & Wane by a blurb in Prog magazine. I liked what was written, so I immediately tracked them down and got their music. It is, in a word, AMAZING!
They are my next guests on Up Close And Acoustic. Here's a teaser of some of the conversation (there's lots of great music as well of course.
NOTE: This video will be the last teaser posted here on social media. I'm gonna start asking you to subscribe to my Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEXxvLhP5fTPIHHGRjm7zAg
When I get enough subscribers, it'll be a 'real name', not a string of gobbeldygoop.
Until then, enjoy this teaser!
Coming next on Up Close And Acoustic, the amazingly talented in her own right AND much sought after session person BettySoo!
Great lady and terrific interview, AND she plays live for the show!!
Here's a teaser about her thoughts on recording and selling music.
As always, the show is audio but the Teaser here has us (well, BettySoo anyway) lookin' good on video!
Thanks to Wendy Brynford-Jones at Conqueroo for facilitating this interview session!

Find it on PRX! Lots of great music and conversation, and YOU are invited!
An excellent and in-depth meeting of the minds next time on Up Close And Acoustic... featuring Grace Pettis! Deep dives into the mind of a musical activist along with some great music creating the perfect balance that is Up Close And Acoustic!
Here's a teaser of my conversation with Grace...
Reaching back a few years to a NERFA Talk Conference where Up Close And Acoustic met up with the amazing Panache Quartet.
This was recorded live in a hotel room jammed full of musical instruments and recording apparatus.... and 5 people.
I think the sound on this is AMAZING for the setting! Listen with headphones.
Rebecca Loebe features in the next episode of Up Close And Acoustic.
Here's a teaser with some 'bonus material' not used in the show.
Charlie and Rebecca get nerdy about mics.
Thank you Wendy and Conqueroo for facilitating this.
Remember to catch Dar Williams on Up Close And Acoustic, available right now! Please visit here: https://beta.prx.org/stories/380660

Success! Up Close And Acoustic featuring MEER, terrific Prog band from Norway, will be posted Sunday as editing was completed today. Turned out very well I think. I also think you will be blown away by the music included in the episode.
Here is the second and final teaser ahead of the episode. Again, look for it on PRX and links to it across all my pages and various other groups I'm in.
Until Sunday, please enjoy this snippet of conversation.
Up Close And Acoustic hosts MEER. Full show posts in 2 weeks.
And while Up Close And Acoustic is audio only, here is a video teaser of what you can expect in the interview.
MEER is an Orchestral Progressive band from Norway and they were cool to make a long-distance appearance for the show!
Their latest album is 'Playing House'. You can find it on Bandcamp and I highly recommend it. Listen and BUY here:

Here, we discuss the lead track off the album and Johanne's love of belting out a song! Thank you to Johanne, Eivind, and Morten!

I was fortunate enough today to meet and interview Amanda Page Cornett for Up Close And Acoustic.
What a super nice and pleasant artist. Her new single is 'Dream Catcher' (and I also recommend 'Six-gun Showdown' for pure rocking out purposes).
This teaser trailer touches on her experience at Fame Studios!
Catch the full interview in a couple weeks.

Who's featured next on Up Close And Acoustic you ask? Why, it's Arielle Silver!
Not only a fabulous singer/songwriter, but for this teaser we're talking about her podcast Tomes & Tunes... actually I do a lot of the talking (shocker), but she has a great podcast you should check out if you like reading!

Chris Zurich, one of the first few guests on Up Close And Acoustic. Covering Son House. Great stuff. Thank you Chris.
Regarding Chris, if you ever see me out at a gig, you've got to hear the story of the acquaintance we share and how I found out. One of my all-time favorite stories in my life.
Like what you hear? Please 'like' Chris's page.
Joel Rakes visits the show and plays his song, 'Dutch Blitz'. Recorded in the ever crumbling WCHE broadcast studio back near the beginning of Up Close And Acoustic. A loooong time ago now.
Joel was brand new to me and I'd just seen him at the open mic at Burlap and Bean Roast House (I think that's what it was... it's all a bit hazy now)
Thanks to Joel, WCHE, Burlap & Bean et al.
Like what you hear? Tell a friend. 'Like' the Up Close And Acoustic page and join the Up Close And Acoustic - Plugged-In group!
