Join Tepai Pascual in her workshop about Storytelling and Character Development on September 28, 2024, from 12nn to 3pm. She is best known as the creator of the National Book Awards and Madrigal-Gonzales Awards nominated graphic novel, Maktan 1521 and an ongoing medical romcom online comic series, Duty Ka Ba? Komiks.

Learn more about Comics Illustration from Melvin Calingo on the same day, from 4pm to 7pm. He is known by his pen name "Taga-ilog", one of the four core artists that created the early 2000's comic magazine, Culture Crash Comics. Melvin continues to draw PASIG, now under the banner of Point Zero Comics and self-publishes it as an indie title. He also co-writes Kanto Inc. comics.

Both Tepai and Melvin works at the University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Fine Arts as a lecturers.

Heyo! Next on the series where I draw fanart of Mechs from our local komiks community is.... Mine! XD

Haha just a little self-promotion... just letting everybody know that I'll have a table at Komikon Indieket 2024, this coming Sat! (Aug 31) at The Bayanihan Center. I'll be selling copies of Palarong Bakal issue 01 at the POINT ZERO Table along with JP Palabon and Melvin Calingo (Taga-ilog). So be sure to drop by and say "Hi" and maybe buy our komiks haha.

So about this mech, The J1-DL+ dubbed, "Kamote King" by my protagonist, Criss, is an old basic labor Gante, manufactured by the Infamous Ibarra Industries. The J1 series Gantes are usually used for taking on light Labor type tasks for construction and transportation. And back in the war days they were used for testing military prototype equipment. Usually these Gantes come with a protective cover for the pilots, but have them removed, since the shutdown of the Ibarra Industries, operators find them easier to maintain without it. These days only a few J1 series Gantes remain and most of them are decommissioned, they were succeeded by the new KS series, by the Damaso Corporation.
