YourStoryTeller is a global digital space to share triumphs & struggles of ordinary people from everywhere and anywhere. The platform brings adapted and reallife stories from the grassroots, highlighting core social issues. Personal stories are a powerful tool to understand the depth of issues and seek local and lasting solutions. However, in vast majority of our developing world, people do not ta

lk about their own stories due to stigma, myths or sheer embarrassment. YourStoryTeller is deliberately designed to provide a veil of anonymity through animation, to those who otherwise feel embarrassed to share personal experiences. Yourstoryteller gives a choice to the individuals to own the authorship of their story or remain anonymous. YourStoryTeller is a voice of the voiceless. YourStoryTeller is not just an entertainment platform to watch powerful stories. The underlying mission is to highlight core issues within their cultural contexts and in the local language. This will assist communities to comfortably begin to speak about their issues and ultimately discover solutions from within. Yourstoryteller Labs, envision to empower individuals to learn the art of powerful story telling through story boards. One brave share inspires others to share their unique stories. Yourstoryteller clubs aspire to inculcate critical thinking by providing talking points to groups and communities, and to discuss the core issues highlighted in the story. Solutions for all social problems must come from within the community. For that, one must begin to talk about the problems first. YourStoryTeller also aims to showcase stories from different regions of the world. This will not only be a great resource for local communities, as mentioned above, but will also offer a window of opportunity to the global village to share and learn about each other. YourStoryTeller will also embed local artforms as a tribute to the local communities and to showcase the rich global diversity. You can download the Storyteller on your Android Mobiles & Tabs to play the stories. ZMQ will bring over 100 stories in its first year, from all over the world. In the true spirit of diversty and inclusion, YourStoryTeller is accessible to all.

‘The Body and the Soul’
The below picture may look like some personal picture from our family album but in fact it is all about the birth and being ZMQ, an organization came in to being in 1998.

ZMQ was conceived in the honor of our late father, Professor Zaheer Masood Quraishi (ZMQ), who we lost on Aug 21, 1998. He gave us our first lessons of social justice, equality, the know-how to excavate the root causes of global human problems and the methodology of addressing them. He was ‘the Body’ of ZMQ.

Our mother, Dr. Meraj Quraishi (MQ of ZMQ or also known as MIRA), was a sociologist & a Professor at School of Open Learning, specialising in African Studies. She inculcated in us the values of entrepreneurial drive – ‘never say die’, taught us the importance of women as the key driver for development and above all taught us values of truth, integrity & humility. On May 2, 2024, we lost our beloved mother – ‘the Soul of ZMQ’.

Now that both the Body and the Soul have departed, it will be hard for all of us at ZMQ Development without them, but their lessons & vision resonates, and we commit ourselves to strive even harder to change ‘the lives of those who need it the most’.

Both will continue to live in the spirit of ZMQ in form of their teachings, vision, philosophy and keep guiding us.

Here is another story shared by an Asian Canadian who was born and raised in Quebec.
Racism has always been part of growing up in Canada for him, but it rose several folds all of a sudden after COVID, hence racializng the pandemic.
During our community consultations, we heard many such stories ranging from dirty looks to racist jokes to verbal assaults, physical violence and vandalism.
Diversity is a reality in Quebec and in Canada at large. Inclusion and equity are the only way forward, if we wish to realize a strong, progressive and plural nation. This story also narrates the importance of being an ally, instead of being a bystander during the acts of microaggressions or racism.
