Legal Support Specialist
UNC System Office
The Legal Support Specialist will provide a breadth of legal support and project management services to the Division. While the exact role of the position may change over time and must remain consistent with business need and the individual’s strengths and interests, the overarching goal of the role is a “turnkey” level of service to support the Division of Legal Services and the wider System Office. The Legal Support Specialist position requires a “can do” candidate who will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and supporting directed activities of the lawyers in the Division of Legal Affairs operating as a mutually supporting team. The position will require professional interface with business clients within the System Office, contacts at individual campuses, and members of the general public. This position will present multiple opportunities for professional growth and development. The utmost integrity and considerable independent judgment are necessary for this position. The position requires knowledge of legal research, technology management, and organization skills in order to effectively search for, compile, and report information for attorney analysis. In consultation with an attorney, the position will manage System Office public records request responses and provide litigation discovery support. Knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and practices related to records retention and disposition, public records, and discovery is preferred. The team focuses on Academic Affairs, Business Transactions, Immigration Legal Services, Litigation, and Contracting and the position will assist with managing and improving the existing workflow of public records request responses.
Position is located in Raleigh, NC in our state-of-the-art high-rise office space in the Dillon Building located in the vibrant Warehouse District.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Competencies
Ability to manage a variety of business and records functions. Ability to perform research, data collection, analysis of information, and report writing. Ability to interpret policies and procedures to facilitate and ensure the application of sound business practices. May require the ability to integrate policies and procedures with work units external to the organization. Thorough knowledge of the organization’s accounting and budget procedures. Ability to assess and resolve problems that require research and review of policy and procedures.

JOB SUMMARY

The College of Law Assistant Dean of Admissions will work with a team of colleagues to enroll a talented and inclusive class of incoming first year students each year. The College of Law Assistant Director will play a key role in the ex*****on of a multi-faceted plan aimed at matriculating students from diverse backgrounds and from all regions of the country. The College of Law Assistant Director will bring to the position outstanding interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively communicate the College of Law’s academic and non-academic programs to prospective applicants and other key audiences, r8obust equity and inclusion competencies, and the ability to manage programs and multiple priorities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Represent the Law College’s Juris Doctor and graduate programs with energy, enthusiasm and

professionalism to prospective students, pre-law advisors, and other audiences, both on campus and at

venues across the nation. Occasional travel to Canada may also be included.

 Coordinate admissions-related texting and social media campaigns for all College of Law programs.

 Assist College of Law Admissions leadership with website maintenance and the creation and revision of

information.

 Manage the College of Law’s webinar/podcast/Ask Me Anything series schedules, content, and logistics.

 With the College of Law Assistant Dean, manage the creation, logistics, and reporting of Pardot e-

campaigns to prospective, admitted, and in-progress applicants to the graduate programs.

 Create and interpret reports using data from Salesforce and the Law School Admissions Council’s database

(ACES2, UNITE).

 Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility best practices

are integrated into all aspects of the admissions functions and activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The job requires: knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college

degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in

professional admissions work at a regionally accredited institution, including experience with domestic freshman

and transfer applicants; experience in a specialized admissions area; making formal presentations; and working with

the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
