This is where you’ll find all the news about what Fine Poets is up to, what our new publications are, where Jack Thompson is performing, what new CDS are coming out in time for what gift giving occasion (Jack Thompson Live At The Gearin will be ready for Fathers Day)
It’s where you can see what Glenys Rowe is doing and thinking too- she doesn’t have her own page, one is enough, thank you
. There are no secrets here: Glenys Rowe is the voice behind the page. For those of you who might not know exactly what Fine Poets does, I’m going to indulge a little here and explain at short length. I’m proud of it- we’ve only been going for two years and we’re already a label, as they say in the record business, and we’re on our way to becoming a category, as they say in the retail trade. As of today, Fine Poets has published nine different CDS and DVDS. They are:
Vol 1 Jack Thompson, The Bush Poems of Banjo Paterson
Vol 2 Jack Thompson, The Campfire Yarns of Henry Lawson (these are the great short stories like The Loaded Dog and The Drovers Wife)
Vol 3 Jack Thompson, The Sentimental Bloke, The Poems of CJ Dennis
Vol 4 Jack Thompson, The Battlefield Poems of Banjo Paterson
Vol 5 Jack Thompson, Favourite Australian Poems ( a mixed selection, that includes Tumba-bloody –Rumba and We’ll All be Rooned said Hanrahan- and true, they are not the proper titles, but we know from experience that they’re the ones that everybody knows them by)
Vol 6 Jack Thompson, The Poems of Henry Lawson
Vol 7 Jack Thompson, Live at the Gearin Hotel
Vol 8 Jack Thompson, Live at the Gearin Hotel DVD
Vol 9 Leonard Teale, Famous Australian Poems
They’re all Australian, which was never actually the real idea behind the label. We wanted to do the best poetry from each country, read by the great actors from that country, but then Jack’s CDs just took off and its only now that we’ve managed a short breather, that we can see how we’ve sort of got side tracked……so we’re going overseas soon! Our CDS and DVD's make perfect gifts and we'll individually giftwrap them for you and write a personalised message so that the gift looks as though it was all done by your goodself. Nice wrapping paper too, not ordinary.
