It’s that time of year when all the streaming number posts come out and I usually don’t post anything, but I didn’t want to not say thank you again so I’ve tried to summarise my thoughts…it’s difficult being a musician we have to play the promotions game to have a job, but also I think it’s bad for mental health and creativity in general how our passion and work gets packaged into metrics and quantified values.

I worked so hard for so many years with no one listening and if I was battling the socials metrics then I might have given up. So I always feel uneasy posting this sort of thing, despite it being a nice opportunity to share gratitude with everyone who has take the time to listen…so I wanted to take the time to explain rather than just not saying thank you!…thank you!

Obv this goes much wider beyond music too, but that’s for another post..
