Flies In The Kitchen Podcast Conversations with the Creators, the ones washing away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

Heya Everyone! It's been a while, right? Lots going on over the last year, but that's another story. I wanted to pop on here to let y'all know that my website, danheidt dot com, where all the episodes are located, will be going into a bit of a hibernation for a while. HOWEVER, everything is over at our NEW home, fitkpod.com where you can find all the episodes and stream them right there. It's still a little clunky, but I'll be working hard to make it look like it should. Until then, keep making stories, and I'll update you soon!

On this date, in 1974, fifty years ago, John Denver earned his first #1 song on the US singles chart with Sunshine On My Shoulders. It was his first of four US #1 hits. Have you heard my tribute to him on Flies In The Kitchen? You can listen to it here:

On the 24th Anniversary of John Denver’s death, I muse a little on John’s life, legacy, and influence. And, of course, I have a cool story to share.

Yesterday marked the 26th anniversary of John Denver’s death. Listen (or re-listen!) to my remembrance I put together about my own history and experience with John.

On the 24th Anniversary of John Denver’s death, I muse a little on John’s life, legacy, and influence. And, of course, I have a cool story to share.

I heard something in a song recently I never thought I would ever hear in real life. It’s a stylistic choice I’ve only ever read about and wondered about its actual existence In real music. A few days ago I heard it - at least I think I heard it - in a song by one of my favorite artists, and I’ve listened and re-listened and rewound probably 50 times to make sure I’m right about it. I’ll probably listen another 50 times until I’m completely sure and then I’ll create a podcast episode about it so you can hear it for yourself.

(Is that enough reason to subscribe to the Flies In The Kitchen Podcast?)

While uploading something for a friend, I found this ‘outtake’ from my conversation with my good pal, Zach Whitney, on our walk in the woods episode of the Flies In The Kitchen Podcast. What a great time that was. No brand new episodes as of late, but feel free to go back and listen to my chat with Zach, and all the other ones. Wherever, as they say, you listen to your podcasts.

A great pearl of wisdom as remembered by Zach Whitney, with whom I enjoyed a walk in the woods recently.

Brand New Episode up for your ears this New Year Morning. TJ George has a lot to say about a lot of great things, like the magic of cul de sacs, being young and fearless, Orbital sanders, and following (or not following) one’s dream. What's your dream? Is 2022 the year to make it happen?

TJ George has something big happening, and he can’t wait to share it with the world. We had a great chat in my living room about it and a bunch of other great things.

Twenty-four years ago today, John Denver died. He was my first musical love, and I miss him still. I have a pretty cool story about him I want to share with you which I will upload a little later today, so be on the lookout for it. In the meantime, here’s a video of me playing Annie’s Song in my sister’s treehouse playing along with the crickets and forest choir.

I had an opportunity to visit some family from back home in WV this weekend, and in the spirit of distancing (and pure selfishness) I spent the night in the ...
