Mini geckos with jumbo personality đŠ for all those new to the page, these little lizards are commonly referred to as âmicro geckosâ. They come in all colors and patterns, but one thing is for sure: they are tiny! They are some of the most beautifully naturally occurring geckos on earth, especially the longer you take the time to learn about and enjoy them. Highly intelligent for their size, you can see thoughts and decisions happening behind their eyes. They are fantastic display animals, especially in a beautifully built micro terrarium, but they are not animals to be handled under almost any circumstance besides moving from A to B lol. Being extremely fast and fragile, and able to fit under or through everything, safe to say once they hit the ground running, theyâre gone! The reason I am filming these is because my friend who bred these little ones @micro_geckos had just sent to restock and while unpacking to put in their housing its the perfect time to take some pics for Morph Market (which is updated đ). Meet the OâShaughnessyâs gecko (Gonatodes concinnatus), one of the âlargerâ of the micro geckos! This adult pair will feel right at home in this @herpcult enclosure. These geckos live at the base of trees, fallen logs, and in the leaf litter of the jungle floors of South America. These little geckos are just some of the amazing species that work so well in a display enclosure like this. Fun and easy to maintain, hard to go wrong!

Hand feeding few of the resident lizards đŠ all with such different personalities and interactive in their own ways, which makes it pretty fun! And even though super worms and mealworms look alike, they have pretty different nutritional values. Mealworms are a much safer staple than supers, I generally feed supers as a treat every so often to the lizards big enough to eat them. Micro gecko feeding frenzy đŠâïž These are all baby micro geckos (sphaerodactylus and gonatodes). As adults theyâll all be less than 2 inches in length, but the babies in this video are all under 1 inch! I am dusting these pinhead crickets with calcium and vitamin supplement to ensure these little ones get all the nutrients they need to grow correctly. I usually only dust every few feedings as to not over do it (extra dusting in this video so you can see the crickets easier đ). Then Iâll go one by one and feed all the baby geckos. I house them in small, cluttered enclosures with leaf litter and small pieces of bark. This way they have lots of hiding areas to feel comfortable but it is easy for me to check up on them when I need to, or catch them if Iâm shipping them out to a new home! You can see just how much intelligence and personality is packed into such small creatures: the way they hunt, move their eyes, show caution and curiosity. This is one main reason I enjoy these little geckos so much! Not to mention the variety of beautiful patterns and colors!

Welcoming a brand new baby anole into the world đ with a giant finger poking it đŹ this is female Anolis roquet âmacuba.â Many species of anole are sexually dimorphic at hatch, meaning you can tell male or female based on pattern. The stripe down this little ones back indicates she is a she đ§ this animal is a 3rd generation in my care, and from one of my most beautiful pairs of self produced macuba. I am excited to watch this one grow!

This glass enclosure is home made here at Herptime HQ, and fit for some of my favorite mainland species of anole! Its a prototype enclosure of a design I hope to be able to fine tune and build more of. The lizards going in here are going to be found near the forest floor, so the more terrestrial style of cage is fitting! They also donât move around a great deal, so theyâll be perfectly happy and breeding in here! Lots of different tropical plants to give a bit of cover if they need, and some leaf litter so they can blend in. These lizards really are not all that quick and rely on their leaf like camouflage and motionlessness to keep themselves safe! Theyâre the blue lipped forest anole, or anolis bombiceps. Iâve got a trio in here, one of the females is not like the others! Sheâs bright red! Canât wait to see what her babies may look like⊠in the mean time I have lots of eggs cookin from normal ones, just as amazing in my opinion. Canât wait to start offering this amazing and intriguing species to more hobbyists to enjoy!

Itâs so hard to pick a favorite, I sent them all away⊠very sad to see these beauties go đ but so glad they are going to a great home! Someone lucky gets to unbox all these beautiful geckos! This is how I ship animals thousands of miles across the country đ Using an insulated box with paper as cushioning and some frozen phase packs to keep them cool đ§ These are leaf tail geckos (Uroplatus) which need cooler temperatures than your average reptile â too warm and they can easily overheat. I pack each one in their own deli cup with some moist paper towel. The paper towel is to provide humidity (which Uroplatus also need) as well as a surface they can hold onto and sit on to feel comfortable. Also useful to keep things tidy on their journey if they use have to relieve themselves đ© These geckos were packed up, dropped off at FedEx, flown across the country, and picked up from another FedEx location all in less than 16 hours of time! Many people that are not used to seeing this will think it is strange⊠but this is how just about every reptile, frog, fish, or bird gets to your local pet store!

Egg collection time đ„ from these fire red anoles đ these are the same exact species as the average and extremely common brown anole, diamond back anole, or Cuban anole (anolis sagrei). Only difference is they arenât brown! These make an amazing terrarium species and as you can see they breed very easily. Hatching them in an enclosure is 100% possible; I collect eggs just to slightly increase the odds of survival, as my goal is to share these amazing animals with as many people as possible and artificial incubation can increase those numbers slightly. I know this video is just a quick skim and overview of the whole process, so let me know if full length and in-depth versions of this type of voice over style is something you all would be interested in watching and learning from. Hard to believe this little baby was snug in that egg a few hours ago! Of course this baby is tiny, but compared to that even smaller egg Iâm always impressed all that fits in there. This gecko is commonly referred to as the three banded least gecko, but I find it easier and less confusing to refer to them by their scientific name: sphaerodactylus nigropuncatus ocujal. Maybe not âless confusingâ to the average person, but it is clear the exact species of gecko Iâm referring to as many species look similar and have similar common names. This exact species comes from Cuba, but many other least geckos come from all over the Caribbean islands and even mainland Central and South America. This baby will get no more than 2 inches full grown and will be able to reproduce in as little as a year from today! Despite their tiny size and quick maturity, these geckos can surprisingly be long lived for their size: often reaching 12 or more years of age and reproducing for many many years as adults! Totally amazing animals.

These Kurdistan lizard (Timon kurdistanicus) are jewels of lizards from the Middle East that look like theyâre covered in jade and emeralds, with a sapphire and ruby throat! Iâm lucky to have gotten a pair bred by @theknobtail, so letâs give them a worthy home: this is a 24âx16âx24â custom built glass enclosure that I am setting these arid lizards up in. Naturalistic enclosures arenât exclusive to tropical critters! An arid enclosure can be just as beautiful and aesthetic, maybe even more so. And with such an amazing species as kurdistanicus, it is really hard to go wrong. Closely related to the more common jeweled lacerta, these lizards stay much smaller and have such striking contrast and color. Highly intelligent and always on the move, they just are never boring! Again, a huge thank you to Houssam (@theknobtail) for the amazing pair of lizards. I know he has had a lot of success captive breeding this species and has a few more looking for new homes/enclosures⊠a species definitely worth keeping if you enjoy interaction with intelligent reptiles! And even if you donât keep this exact species, I hope this video inspired a few to make naturalistic enclosures for their arid pets â not just their tropical ones. Worms fit for a dragon đȘ± this is the coveted Borneo earless monitor (lanthanotus borneensis)đŠ its favorite meal is earth worms, and it sure isnât shy to eat them! Naturally these animals are very cryptic, living in the shadows and hardly being seen. So for this video I decided to show something rarely seen: an earless monitor eating in high definition! This baby was sent over by @coldbloodedshop who captive bred them here in the US, and since I have been feeding it by hand. Even with in the unusual environment of crystal clear water with bright lights, this little dragon has no problem wrestling for its meal, tearing the worm apart mid water, and even eating in my hand! Again, this feeding presentation was just for this video to display how amazing these shy animals are â something that can be overlooked due to their mysterious nature and scarce footage. Enjoy!

Cockroach invasion đȘł a bit of a different mukbang today for the baby anoles đŠ the usual crickets along side some dubia roaches and red runner roaches courtesy of @cucarachaplug đ Iâm dusting with calcium and vitamins just to make sure these babies are getting everything they need to grow strong and healthy đȘ Iâve been experimenting with some variation in diet, feeding schedules, and diversified gut loading to see what grows these baby anoles the best. Time will tell, but I think itâs safe to say they enjoy these roaches!

Lizards that squeak đ€š Volume up for this one đ This group of Cuban stream anoles (anolis vermiculatus) is one of my favorite lizard breeding projects, with over a dozen individual adults. Despite being quite amazing animals, they tend to be very shy. So the best and sometimes only way to get a good look at their health is the wrangle them out of their enclosures. Funny part is, they make it very clear they would rather be left alone â they can talk! Well not literally talk, but they are able to squeak and make different noises from quick short squeals to low slow growls lol. Pretty amazing! They usually only make these noises when being handled or fighting over territory with one another. Just something you donât see every day. And until today, Iâll bet you never knew what an anole talking sounded like⊠youâre welcome!

Meet the Guanaja large scaled geckolet, which I prefer to call by its Latin name: Sphaerodactylus alphus.
Sphaerodactylus is the group (genus) of geckos this species falls into, and theyâre some of the smallest geckos on earth. To give you an idea of their tinyness, alphus is the largest species in all of Sphaerodactylus!
Sphaerodactylus is latin, âsphaeroâ meaning round or sphere, and âdactylusâ meaning toes. Makes perfect sense when you get some close up feet pics of these guys! And what does alphas mean? Literally means white spot on the skin. How fitting lol.
Of course, the common name also has a meaning: Gauanaja are where these geckos are from; large scale is because they have such large, incredible scales for the size of their body; and geckolet because theyâre literally tiny geckos.
I know youâre wondering: are sphaerodactylus good pets? Well, probably not. Unlike leopards and cresteds, these geckos arenât handleable. For the keeper that doesnât have that need for handling, these geckos might be for you! When set up in the proper environment they are amazing to watch and observe doing their thing, just being sphaerodactylus.

Watch as I hand craft a bromilead bungalow đ this totally custom built glass enclosure along with background, scaping, and plants will be available at the @reptilesupershow in less than a month! Cutting wood to create a âroot systemâ is something I enjoy doing in my enclosures. And itâs easier than it looks: all it takes is finding the right branches, flip them upside down, and boom! I also like how the background of this enclosure turned out. By the time itâs filled with hardscape and plants it disappears, always bitter sweet. Despite all the work that went into this enclosure, it is designed to be easy enough for a beginner to maintain! Using only bromileads makes for a beautiful display that is hardy and easy to take care of. And no, theyâre not fake; those beautiful colors are very real! The clean up crew will be getting to work multiplying in the next month until the show on January 6-7 and they will come with the enclosure. This enclosure is designed to house small to mid size anoles. The animal in this enclosure is an anolis roquet saleini that I produced. Wow is it a pretty lizard! To many people these may be just a random boring lizard, but I see a micro crocodile with incredible color and personality! Aquatic and semi aquatic animals have always intrigued me as long as I can remember. And these lizard scratch that itch I have for an outgoing and beautiful semi aquatic display animal. These stream lizards, thought to be Potamites ecpleopus, most likely spec nova (a new species, yet to be formally described), are one of my favorite projects Iâm working with. And what an honor to hatch some babies! This simpler set up will suit the babies for a little while until they gain some size and hardiness. Iâll also be able to monitor them easier and clean it easier as well. Iâm hopeful to establish this species in the hobby, and if thatâs a project you want in on make sure you keep in touch or check my morph market as Iâm hoping some more adults will arrive soon. Establishing a field collected species into the captive hobby is easier with cooperation and collaboration. This world record enclosure of the most tarantulas sharing one home is something Iâm very honored to have helped with and have to thank my friend Aram of @urbantarantulas for including me! These M. balfouri are one of the only communal species of spider that get along in a giant communal colony like this. We built a nice and simple background so that this communal had some nice areas to climb on and share. Nothing too fancy because remember these tarantuals will cover this whole enclosure in white web in just a few days, and Aram will need to periodically go in this enclosure and clean it out. So an over the top background with crazy hardscape and bioactive doesnt make much sense for this build. When b uilding an enclosure, it is definelty best to build with the animal(s) in mind first, and what will best fit their needs, as well as what will best dispaly them. And I think this enclosure over time will prove to do just that!
