Tornado 10th Anniversary 2016
In 2006, a tornado outbreak that lasted from April 6-8 rocked the central and southern United States. 73 tornadoes touched down across 13 states. There was over $650 million worth of damage, with $630 million in Tennessee alone. Tragically, the lives of ten people were also lost, and 157 others were injured. The devastation caused to Middle Tennessee on April 7th was considered the worst disaster in the state of Tennessee since the Tornadoes of 1998. Today marks the 10th anniversary of this disaster. Among the areas that were hit included Gallatin, TN, and a lot of damage was wreaked upon Volunteer State Community College. The pictures in the video below are of the damage done to Vol State and are provided courtesy of Jennifer Easton, Holly Brown, and Professor Clay T. Scott.
