Honored to have been a speaker at this event arranged by the young ones at Susan B. Anthony Reading Room at jinnah women university addressing đ†đžđ§đđžđ«-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 đ•đąđšđ„đžđ§đœđž (𝐆𝐁𝐕) through the lenses of law, psychology, media, and activism.

Sharing my journey as a gender reporter, activist, mother, wife, and working woman navigating societal constraints, gender gaps, family health challenges, and more in Pakistan was both challenging and rewarding. We explored critical topics such as:

💜Building career and financial stability as a foundation for independence.

💜The importance of mental health and “keeping your glass full” before giving to others.

💜Laws and frameworks addressing GBV, alongside psychological support systems for survivors.

It was heartwarming to interact with the next generation of young women who will shape Pakistan and the world. While sharing your experiences isn’t easy, I hope my journey sparked meaningful learning without overwhelming them.

Grateful for this opportunity to motivate and learn alongside fellow panelists. Let’s continue to work for a society free from violence—one step at a time.

"I get paid daily depending on the number of rice sacks we fill and load, each weighing around 40 kilograms. The process involves filling the sack for 5 Pakistani rupees (PKR, $0.017), stitching it for PKR 3, and loading it for PKR 5, totalling PKR 13 ($0.046) per sack."

"We are constantly bombarded with promotions of formulas, diapers and the best baby food (even though some countries have banned such advertisements). Consequently, whether you have a kid or not, you are compelled to believe that this is the best for infants."

"Working abroad was not very easy. A lot happened when I was away from Pakistan, both celebrations and tragedies. My parents died, my siblings died, and I couldn’t spend time with my loved ones. But for those sacrifices, I am glad I have a healthy life and all my kids are educated. They all are married and happy."

Sometimes I would start projects just to try new stitches and patterns, and not finish them. I was intrigued by the versatility that manipulating just two stitches could bring about."

"While manifestos address political, economic, and security concerns, what cannot and should not be ignored is Pakistan’s energy landscape," writes Annam Lodhi.

"The next government will have to deal with Pakistan’s circular debt in the power sector which stands at over a staggering Rs2,500 billion (2023).

"According to the Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan (IGCEP), Pakistan’s electricity consumption is projected to increase by 228 TWh per year (39 GW peak) by 2031.

To address this growing demand, Pakistan aims to construct and integrate approximately 30 GW of new power plants into the national grid over the next decade. But will they be able to?"

Hello world!
After a break from social and a little adjusting to new things I am back.
I had forgotten about this space and would like to revive it.

Sharing my latest story for Dawn Images, sprouting from my own experiences.

Hope you all were well! Watch this space as I share more of my work in the past 2 years.

From snooping neighbours to inquisitive landlords, the 'freedoms' of living independently aren't always what they're cracked up to be.
