Breast cancer in Pakistan isn’t just about diagnosis and treatment. It’s about stigma, isolation, delayed care, and the enduring fear even after remission. My article for Geo News English uncovers the hidden emotional and social battles women face, and the urgent need for early detection, mental health support, and community awareness.

Read the article here:

When 29-year-old Moizza first felt the small lump under her skin, she assumed it was a blocked milk duct as she was breastfeeding her toddler. Living with her in-laws in Dadu, hours away from any major hospital, she did what she could. I was...

I’m working on a Breast Cancer Awareness Month story and would love to hear from you. 💗

If you have breast cancer, are a survivor, or know someone who has been through it, I’d like to talk. I am especially looking to connect with:

🌧️ Women with chemotherapy scheduled this summer couldn’t attend sessions due to rain or flooding.
🛣️ Patients who travel between cities for chemo or treatment.
🧬 Families with a history of breast cancer who discovered the gene and got tested in time.

Every story matters, whether about struggle, resilience, or the care journey. Please feel free to message me directly or tag someone who may want to share. Your experiences could help shed light on challenges that often go unheard.

Please comment/message me.

🚨 for Interviewees

I’m working on a story about how pregnancy and parenthood impact women’s careers across industries and cities in Pakistan.

I’m looking to speak with:

🔸 Women who faced discrimination due to pregnancy or post-partum needs.

🔸 Men who have taken (or tried to take) paternity leave.

🔸 Employers/HR who can explain why they don’t hire pregnant women or newly married women.

🔸 Women who had supportive, positive workplace experiences during pregnancy or after childbirth.

If you fit one of these categories (or know someone who does), please message me in confidence. Your identity can be kept anonymous.

Honored to have been a speaker at this event arranged by the young ones at Susan B. Anthony Reading Room at jinnah women university addressing 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐆𝐁𝐕) through the lenses of law, psychology, media, and activism.

Sharing my journey as a gender reporter, activist, mother, wife, and working woman navigating societal constraints, gender gaps, family health challenges, and more in Pakistan was both challenging and rewarding. We explored critical topics such as:

💜Building career and financial stability as a foundation for independence.

💜The importance of mental health and “keeping your glass full” before giving to others.

💜Laws and frameworks addressing GBV, alongside psychological support systems for survivors.

It was heartwarming to interact with the next generation of young women who will shape Pakistan and the world. While sharing your experiences isn’t easy, I hope my journey sparked meaningful learning without overwhelming them.

Grateful for this opportunity to motivate and learn alongside fellow panelists. Let’s continue to work for a society free from violence—one step at a time.

"I get paid daily depending on the number of rice sacks we fill and load, each weighing around 40 kilograms. The process involves filling the sack for 5 Pakistani rupees (PKR, $0.017), stitching it for PKR 3, and loading it for PKR 5, totalling PKR 13 ($0.046) per sack."

"Working abroad was not very easy. A lot happened when I was away from Pakistan, both celebrations and tragedies. My parents died, my siblings died, and I couldn’t spend time with my loved ones. But for those sacrifices, I am glad I have a healthy life and all my kids are educated. They all are married and happy."
