was founded in 2009 by its President/CEO Mike Davie (AKA Michael B Davie), who is also President/CEO of Manor House Publishing Inc., proud publishers of rock icons such as Ian Thomas and CJ Sleez. Hamilton-based Rockport Records takes it's name from the industrial giant's bustling international seaport - and from this steel city's hard-earned reputation as a source for great rock musicians and ban
ds (due in part to the nationally renowned Mohawk College music program producing outstanding musicians). Hamilton is a major port of call for astonishing rock performances, bands and an ever expanding and dynamic, vibrant music scene - it's truly Canada's Rockport. Within a few months of its founding, Rockport Records released it's first record album - Pallet for Mayhem - by one of rock's hottest new acts - STOLEN CHANGE - to rave reviews and a sold-out concert hall CD release show. The band is directly managed and booked by Mike Davie, and STOLEN CHANGE continues to play to packed venues, with ongoing CD sales. The band is to release a 4-track EP CD in the spring of 2011, following by a full-length album later in the year. It's myspace site has drawn more than 25,000 fans, 100,000 visits and 300,000 song plays. Rockport Records is acquiring additional major rock acts, and recently signed legendary Celtic punk-rockers LOADED DICE to its roster. Rockport Records will soon be releasing a 3-track LOADED DICE EP CD, followed by a full album in 2012. As a direct booking agency for rock shows, Rockport Records is also interested in working with major acts and agencies to showcase its own artists and outside acts
The growing success of Rockport Records in a difficult record industry era is owed in large part to its founder's ability to think and act outside the box, forging mutually beneficial alliances with industry players that work for label, promoters, booking agencies, and most importantly, the participating bands.
