The Aspiring Woman magazine, an online lifestyle magazine for Christian women, was launched on April 1, 2015 by She Aspires, an organization that believes that a strong, intimate and powerful relationship with God is the key to a fulfilled and purposeful life.

The magazine is a labour of love for women by women and all of our staff and contributors are volunteers who are investing our heart, our

time and our words into this magazine to bring glory to God and to engage, enrich and encourage women.

The purpose of the magazine is to provide engaging, enriching and encouraging content to inspire and light a fire in God's women so that they unlimit themselves, think forward, pursue their dreams and change the world. We strive to create content that is filled with rich, Biblical truths and that apply to all areas of a woman's walk with God. You will find articles covering spiritual growth, business, leadership, youth, home, marriage, parenting, food, health and much more.

He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is good.’”
Luke 5:36‭-‬39 ESV

Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
- 2 Timothy 2:20‭-‬21 ESV

I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.
~ 2 Timothy 1:3,5

The most powerful influences in our lives are our family. They leave a legacy that we carry inside of us.

What legacy will you leave for your children and your children's children? For future generations? What do you carry inside you that will one day dwell in them?

In Genesis 5:32, Noah was 500 years old. In Genesis 6, God told Noah to build the ark in preparation for the flood. In Genesis 7, Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters came.

It appears that one hundred years passed from the time God told Noah to build the ark. Imagine that you're Noah. God gives you this vision of what's to come. It must sound pretty terrifying. According to Scripture, God didn't tell Noah when this would happen. He only told Noah to prepare for it.

What did Noah do in those 100 years? We know he walked faithfully with God and he did everything that God commanded him. But as the days and years went by, did he question the vision? Did he wonder if and when the flood would come? Was he doubted by his friends when he told them what he was doing? Did he struggle to build this giant ark that God told him to build? Did it take him the entire 100 years to build it? Was he ever tempted to give up and have to refocus on what God had called him to do?

When God gives us a vision or puts a dream on our hearts, He may not give us all the details, a step-by-step process or a complete timeline. That would certainly be nice, but that doesn't take faith. He will likely reveal just enough for us to faithfully obey in this season until we are ready for what He will reveal in the next season.

What vision is God giving you? What dream has He placed on your heart? The fulfillment of it could take 5, 10, 50 or 100 years. But it will be fulfilled. Stay faithful to what He is showing you.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
~ Ephesians 6:10

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
~ 1 John 2:15-17

What we have and what we achieve is from God. What we seek and what we desire should be for God. If we love the world and strive to gratify our eyes and our flesh, we are not of God.

We all have goals and dreams, things we want to accomplish. But, if they're rooted in the flesh, we need to rethink them. If we are fulfill the plans and purposes that God has for us, we need to pursue the goals and dreams that are rooted in Him.

2020 and 2021 has been unexpected. I didn't expect COVID. I expected to move to another province for a work promotion, but I got a different promotion instead. I didn't expect my father to pass away. I didn't expect to wane in my faith.

My father's passing a couple of weeks ago was the hardest of them all. He was the strongest man I knew. His faith in God never weakened throughout his health battles. He prayed fervently and endlessly. He was healthy all of his life and then... kidney disease, stroke, cancer. It was one thing after the next. Even when we saw rays of hope that he was getting better, he declined again. And then he lost his battle and he was gone. He was 69.

I found myself struggling to understand why God would allow my dad to go through this. And I felt angry that my dad had to suffer like this while there are evil people in the world who are free to walk this earth adding no value at all to people's lives - only pain.

We will never know why bad things happen, why suffering happens to the people we love. Only God knows why. We just have to trust that there's a purpose in it and that God will use it for good.

The one good that I can see from my dad's passing is that he helped me to renew my faith. I had gotten to a point where I gave up on God. I didn't see the point of prayer. But my dad encouraged me to pray with him. He encouraged me to trust God even when life seems bleak. He encouraged me to hold firm to my faith. I'm so grateful for those times with him.

My dad left an amazing legacy. He lived his dreams. He impacted and touched so many lives. He was faithful to God in life and death. My only hope is that I will do the same.

My dad was Uber talented. He was a singer, a writer, a soccer goalkeeper, a tailor, a karate black belt. He was not only known as one of the best Soca music artists in the world, he was also known as one of the best soccer goalkeepers on the national team. He was known as a legend. He probably did and accomplished so much more that I’m not aware of.

My mom said he lived his dream of singing as that was what he’d wanted to do since he was a child. He made a difference in the lives of countless people all over the world. He was a quiet and private man, but he lived life to the full and he shared his gifts with the world.

Life is short, friends. We can be healthy one day and health-stricken the next. My dad was 69 and he wasn’t ready to go. But I guess it was his time.

I see so much of myself in my dad. And my hope is that I’ll blaze my own trail, in my own way and live the dreams that God has put on my heart.

Happy Sunday, friends. It's been quiet around here and I haven't posted anything in a while. I'm just busy over here doing life and posting when I feel God prompting me to say what's on my heart.

If you're like me, you're a dreamer. You want to make a difference and change the world. You want to touch lives and serve others. You're living simple and dreaming big. You know that God has plans for you and you're trusting the path He has you on. You don't need permission to be who you are and do what He's called you to do. You just do it because His Spirit is moving you to.

That's me. Tell me about you.
