The search began under overcast skies, but just as we picked up a heat signature, the sun started to break through, which would have made locating this deer nearly impossible. After a thorough 10-minute scan, our drone identified a heat signature in a dense area. Within 5 to 6 minutes and some very careful positioning, we were able to confirm the buck’s location, with only a small portion of its rear legs visible. Part 2 Recently we posted a video of a buck the was shot low on the left side behind and exited in front of the shoulder on the right. We located the buck the next evening and he is still alive and was still bleeding 24 hours plus later. Saturday night was a busy one for us, with multiple calls rolling in for recoveries. One call stood out—a hunter who had made what seemed like a solid shot but felt a twinge of doubt. Rather than risk pushing the deer, he decided to hold off and reached out to us on the advice of a friend. When he called, we told him we’d be there, but with a couple of other recoveries already in the queue, it’d take a couple hours. Despite the wait, he stayed patient, trusting the process. And that patience paid off. When we finally arrived and sent the drone up, the thermal camera revealed a solid hit, and the deer was right where we’d hoped. Friday night was an incredible night for deer recovery! We had five calls starting right at sunset and going until 3 AM. Our first call took us to Hardin County, Ohio, where a friend had recommended our services to his buddy, an avid hunter visiting from Michigan. Little did we know, this wasn’t just any hunter—after we recovered his impressive 11-point buck (which field dressed at an impressive 212 lbs!), we found out he was none other than Thomas Smallwood a well-known bowler!
