The last time Air Force One landed in Rockford it was 1984, and my Mom took me out of grade school to see the big, blue and white plane land.
I remember putting my fingers through the chain link fence off Falcon Road.
Imagine if she would’ve said “the next time the President comes to Rockford, you’ll be on the plane.”
You’ll never know how proud I was to say “Welcome to my hometown of Rockford, Mister President.” And more so for believing in the hard working people of the entire Rockford Region.
While this is a huge step, there’s still so much work left to do. Bill Foster and I will continue to remain laser focused on bringing good-paying, union jobs back to our region. As Bill said to the President on Air Force One, “This plant is the beating heart of Bevidere,” and that heart will beat stronger than ever between now and 2027.
